What should I do????

OK, ive had enough of my car. time to start over. fortunately, my dad is also in the market for a new automobile. His offer is:

-sell my car for $3,000-$3,500 (buyer beware)
-use the $$$ to do some minor tune ups on his car (1999 Chevy Tahoe LT, 118,000 miles)
-he gives me his Tahoe
-he buys a new car for himself

im not too hot on the idea of driving a SUV. its not that its $50 to fill a tank, or that its slow as hell, or that it tips over in the wind. its just that after having a camaro for 6 months and looking at all the SUVs driving around ive grown to not like them becuase they are pointless. I wouldnt need all the space. I have enough room for my Golf clubs and then some with the seats folded down in the maro. plus it's 4x cheaper to fill a tank. My idea was:

-Sell my camaro
-sell my dads tahoe
-use the $$$ from the Tahoe to get a new car
-my dad gets to keep the difference in the $$$ from tahoe --> new car

fixing my car is out of the question. im not going to drop 4k into a car ive already put 5k into. give me advice! please!

thats true... but an accoutning rule is your not supposed to calculate money spent on a project to decide if you are going to continue to dump money on a project.


I'd take the tahoe and save up for another vehicle. It could be worse, it coudl be like a 92 saturn or something.

Except for some of those Saturns getting 39mpg. Thats not that bad of a thing. One of my pals gets 35-39mpg depening on if he's got the AC cranked. Course, he's got the Trans Am to make up for that gas sipping Saturn.

Take the Tahoe! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth - thats a $10-12k tax free gift right there. Take it, drive it and save some money for a while for a car you want more and will be able to get in the future.

I say take the hoe, but I'm byas look down....is it a New body style of old? if its new take it, if its old, your better off gettin the money you can out of it. Cus my 01' with 46k on it I bought for 19k so I dont know what book value is on that truck, but high mileage scares people sometimes.

edit: you'll love driving the SUV when you come to the realization that you no longer have to be afraid of sidewalk curbs, and mud, you'll have alot more fun with it. OH ya and people usually get out of your way a little faster when theres 6000+lbs ridin there ***. You'll get cut off alot less, trust me.
