Its like the ant and the grasshopper, If someone else doesnt feel the need to prepare for bad times, I dont feel sorry for them when those times come.

Whoever said that the Democrats do "so well" with the under privledged is misinformed.
The Democratic party does well with African Americans, poor or rich. However, poor whites almost exclusively vote republican UNLESS unionized and then only about 60% of them vote Dem then.
Get your facts straight about voting blocs before you start acting "knowledgable".
You can't make anyone work, so the argument of "they're lazy and they should work!" is besides the point. I wouldn't even consider their lifestyle the "free loader" type, to me free loading includes some type of luxury, but these people are living like those in 3rd world countries almost. Just consider it a tax for living in such a nice country and having the freedoms that we do. Stefan is right, by paying this smaller amount you keep the welfare people in more of a tight nit circle, because without it the crime would be worse and more widespread.

The ability to think above what is in front of you is something that most people aren't blessed with. That's why we have a goverment to do it for those who can't or won't. You're right on man

I'm going to give you a different perspective. I was laid from a tech job in June. Yes I was saving roughly 10% of my income and contributing to my 401k as well every month while I was working but when that income stops your savings will dwindle to nothing very soon. I now work two restaurant jobs with a cut in pay to survive until I can find another job but living off of savings is very difficult. If you were living within your means when working you won't be able to living off your savings for very long. Also consider this say your mortgage is 1/4 of your income and you save 10% a month. It would take 2 and a half months worth of saving to make one mortgage payment. If you're saving 40% of your income a month you are better off but not for long.
My parents are very thrifty - after taxes they probably save about 40-45+% for retirement and other savings as well as investments and such. However, they can do this b/c they were raised privledged and remain highly paid compared to most of America. They feel they have a societal obligation to those less fortunate... why dont any of you??
B/c I'm not highly paid compared to the rest of America, however, I do not want anyones help either, I have pride enough in myself to go out and do it on my own. My living is made paycheck to paycheck, my house is not big, my car is not new, but I attained these things myself, and I take pride in that. Self reliance.
PS, if you look at the voting blocs, combine the minority groups who tend to be under privelaged, especially in large cities, and you have a mighty large voting bloc buddy.

You pay MUCH less than the rest of America... welcome to our progressive tax system. whats not right however is that my parents making a combined income of over the threshold of the highest tax bracket pay the same percentage as people making 2, 10, 100 times them... is that fair?? no. Is it fair to the rich to make them pay more??? nope. Would the richest 5% of the population paying more relieve the burden on YOU? absolutely.
So ask yourself, we have these necessities in life... welfare, roads, police, etc etc.... why if things are going to be unfair should it be unfair to the middle and poor classes??? be unfair to the top 5% instead... yeah its not fair, but life is unfair and a tax system is unfair... might as well let those who can afford it bare the injustice rather than those who CANT.

Because they don't understand. Your parents understand becuse they see more, they see themselves as well as the comparisons to others who aren't so fortunate

If I made a dollar a year or 25 billion a year, I still made it, regardless of what anyone else does. You do realize that people who feel guilty about making so much money can pay more in taxes if they so choose. Let them. If I catch a fish, I should be able to eat it, not have someone else tell me, oh , you have to share that with everyone else.

Yes and no. Inner cities go big for Dems... but also dont vote in large numbers. Minorities are big supporters of Dems, except African Americans are the only ones who really vote, and they only represent 12% of the population. Hispanics are split - many of them vote GOP, particularly Cubans.
The other minority groups do not vote in huge numbers and the other minority voters are often times split so that it doesnt break big for the Dems.
Look at your state of LA... Dems as senators, but Breaux and Landrieu (sp?) get a LOT of white, middle class votes - and theyre not all that liberal.
A majority of America is white, suburban - working and middle classes. These are the swing voters and theyre split right down the middle in terms of party loyalty. The GOP picks up a majority of the wealthiest and the Dems pick up a majority of the poorest. HOWEVER, each party needs these economic extremes to get out to vote to win a national election - but they need a big enough portion of the middle to ALSO vote, or else theyve got nothing.
I’m new. I actually don’t own a Camaro or firebird. I do have a 2000 Camaro 3.8 fly by throttle and 4l60e. This is installed in a 1980 Triumph TR7...
