I went to the show looking for an AK47 but for the price i found my SKS, all the AK's had stamped recievers which are crappy quality... SKS has milled receiver.
anyone know a good place for accessories? like bipod and sling? Mine is the "sportster" version so the barrel is slightly shorter and has no bayonette lug so i need a bipod that doesnt connect to that lug.

Romanian quality is **** compared to Norinco. Please tell me where you can buy a SAR-1 for less than $180? The cheapest AKs, lo-cap (only take single-stack 10rd mags) Romanian WASR-10s, go for $190, and they have become pretty crappy. They come with unfinished wodo furniture, poor bluing, and usually come with canted sights. </font>[/QUOTE]i was saying he could have bought mine for much cheaper; i don't know if he doesn't like the AK styling or what but having seen both norinco and romak and feg all put together, i'd say the feg was the nicest, then a toss-up for second between the romak and norinco.
i had already hopped mine up a bit, mostly just simple things like a muzzle brake and the modified trigger to get rid of trigger slap. i'm not sure if the milled receivers had that problem or not but it was a fun rifle to shoot. mine was parkerized and had refinished furniture.
but, i got out of that game and decided to sell what i had for cheap. i know that trying to sell a modified rifle is like trying to sell a modified car, but mine was damn nice.

Hate to reply again, but I can't let that go.
Stamped receivers are not crappy quality. The majority of AKs in the world are stamped, and you'll be somtimes hard-pressed to find or afford a milled receiver one. Also, the Chinese stamped SKS rifles go for more than the milled ones. It's all about how rare things are.

:( sold it, hard case, 1 40 rd mag, 2 30 rd mags, 1 10 rd mag, sling, expanded cleaning kit for $170. you can get a set very close to that for about 300 on gunbroker.com, i think- are they still importing fully foreign SAR-1s?
EDIT: stamped receivers aren't entirely stamped steel, that is a common misconception... the breech and all that stuff is milled. entirely milled AK's (like the feg) are going to cost you at least 500 bones and you won't get all the mags and other stuff that the SAR-1s come with. i'm not a romak sales rep or anything but i think they're an awesome deal on a straight shooting rifle...
The thing about Romanian AKs is, they're all imported by Century International Arms ("CIA" + city, state stamped on the receiver.)
Century has to make them 992r compliant, which basically states all imported rifles can't have certain features, but that you can change out certain parts and that will technically make them US-made. So Century tears into these AKs replacing romak parts with their parts, like the fire control group, gas piston, front sight block, then threads the barrel. As of late, they've been doing a horrible job on this stuff. People get canted front sight blocks, sometimes the threads don't line up correctly, and the FCGs are usually inferior quality. From what I can tell, this mostly applies to WASR-10s and not really SARs.
Anybdy thats familiar with CETMEs will know what I'm talking about. Century actually makes the stamped receivers for these rifles, and people were sending them back to Century to fix their crappy workmanship left and right.
