  • Gas milage

So i went all the way up to Batman's house this weekend, that is right i made the 220 mile drive, yes he is that pretty. Anyways i decided to see who much gas milage i could get and how big of a difference speed would make on it. On the way up i set my cruise at 70mph and i get 31.92 mpg. Then on the way down i set the cruise at 80mph and i got 27.5mpg. I tried to stay at 80mph but that meant some accellerating and decelerating which hurts the gas milage.
I never thought my car could get almost 32 mpg on the freeway, but the funny thing is if you know that drive, i had to go through the grapevine, so i think if i didn't have to go throught that bad boy i would have made 32 mpg no problem.

Wow, that's good info. I've gone up north before and I know what those roads are like.

I drove the grapevine doing 55-60 mph heading north (so more downhill) right after I bought my car because of the break in period. I didn't check the mileage, but it seemed high and I probably haven't topped that one since. I'll never do 55 on I-5 again though.

I miss the Californias Grapevine. Scenic wonder when I used to live in that state.

But you have to be seen in a Matrix, and you don't get to much better than that on the freeway. I used to drive a Corolla that got better gas milage than that, but then i like everyone else here realized that it just isn't worth being in a damn toyota.

Uh, I get 40 highway buddy. The reason I got a matrix was function over form. An Fbody isn't a family car. Secondly, I might be 'only driving' a matrix, but it feels damn putting ~$30 gas in my car and it lasts me 1 1/2 weeks vs $45 I would be putting in my camaro, if I still had it, and filling it almost twice a week.

And the more gas prices go up, the more money I save.
