BOX

My birthday is comming up, and my family is asking me what I want for my birthday.

So this is what I am asking for
Craftsman 241 pc. Mechanics Tool Set

    With

Craftsman 6 Drawer Roll-Away, Midnight Blue

What do you think of this setup, this will be my first set of tools. I figure I can start here and expand as neccesary.

Craftsman is prety good stuff. Sears stands by their products and returning/exchanging broken or damaged tools is usually pretty simple.

Im packing for the move, and just the tools (non-electric hand tools) took 5 boxes plus 2 boxes of car cleaning stuff and fluids. I still have routers, saws, sanders and electric hand tools, air tools and compressor to pack up. Jeebus, I better make sure my insurance policy covers all them.

That 241pc kit is a good start, but a word of advice, dont pay the money for the craftsman chests. (link didnt work for me, so I cant check it out) but unless you spend a LOT of money on the Professional heavy duty series with ball bearing slide drawers, the others arent worth a crap. You'll be disappointed. Best bang for buck I have found on them is from Lowes. They sell Kobalt tool chests and you can get the sturdier ball bearing slides much cheaper than you can from sears, and you can order them in the cool cobalt blue too.

I agree... not sure if they are the same price or what not, but Kobalt makes a nice tool box.

As for your ratchet set. Might help you but what I did was get those little slot holders made so you can put sockets on them and hang them on the wall and I put them in my box.

Word of advice a nice big tool box is cool, unless you have to carry it places

Yeah they do. We bought my dad one from Lowe's last Christmas. Much cheaper than Craftsman, and almost the same quality (I used to work for Sears.)

                  check out this LINK

lists slightly more that the one you provided, but is MUCH better quality. I am sure I have seen it on their floor for around $220.00, same price as the craftsman you provided

MustangEater is right too, once you are settled and have you own garage to work out of, the tall chests are nice. But at that point, many of us also have duplicates of certain tools that you throw in a smaller box that is portable. Something like THIS

hehe actually clicked the link to your tools. I am pretty sure I have the same set. Might have one or two things different but pretty much the same thing, except mine was bought like 5 years ago.

Good stuff never had one problem with any of those tools.

except lost a socket her or there over the years. Been meaning to go through and make an list of what I need, and pick them up. its only like 3-4 sockets.

As for lowes stuff... not to sure on their brands, but I got a "Taskforce" set for work. And honestly its a good damn quality I was impressed. Doesn't have the warranty that sears has but its nice. I am actually gonna pick up the same set to keep in my tool bag in my car. Was only $20, and is a very good basic tool kit.

That is a nice starter set Jeff, but I would get the better toolbox like others have suggested. My dad always told me to get the good tool boxes too because they don't function well if you dont :(

So does this mean you're the Sinister Six mechanic? LOL
