Engine left in rain

What kind of problems would I have with an engine/trans that has been outside in the rain and all for about a month? Pretty much all the sensors would be ruined right? Also a lot of rust. Would the engine itself be alright yet? Reason I ask is because I can get an engine/trans setup for a good price but it has been outside.

The sensors and wires might be ok, so long as you let them dry out really good before hooking any power to it. I know some guys spray out their engine bay at the car wash, and their sensors are still good. Ya never can tell though. I'd get some kind of stipulation that you wont pay if it wont run.

yea but $150 for engine in trans can't really be beat

Ehh, I don't know they may or may not be OK.

You're probably gonna want to hot tank the motor if its been sitting for a while anyways, so that would take care of the rust.
