Our beloved Hawks did'nt go to the Cup since 1960!When they beat the Red Wings in a great upset.I was a little boy at the time & can't even remember it so it deffinately is not very recent if I can't remember it!
As to fans in Chicagoland who are only Cubbie fans,& hate the Sox, most of them will no doubt continue to fill the decrepit ,wreck of a ballpark ,Wrigley Field, with no idea or care who they're playing or what the score is! :D Its about as close as you can get to a 40,000 seat tavern.Don't get me wrong I like the Cubs too,(but a Sox fan 90% to 10% Cubs) . I thank,& respect the the Cub fan who congradulated White Sox fans in this post,(I'd do the same for Cub fans). It just seems so g-damn strange that a fan base would actually revile in the ineptitude of a team like Cub fans do!They continually go to that ancient, edifice that's litterally crumbling,I've seen minor league affiliates who have better parks!White Sox fans don't like or tollerate sub-par teams or facilities ,I just don't know what the apeal is when Cub fans will support an almost century of perenial futility?Stay away & they'll probably get a new park & make a serious attempt at getting better personnal!Oh well I guess any team can have a bad century. :D
^^^ wow so ya dont like wrigley field, huh? haha thats funny stuff dude... sorry im late to jump on this thread... im a astros fan myself but congrats to the sox... next year is our year... i mean look at it.. last year we almost made it to the playoffs for the first time ever... this year we make it to the world series for the first time ever... and next year we're gonna win for the first time ever... go stros '06!!!

dashrunner, you got a statement incorrect, the Astros made the play-offs in 1980,& almost beat the Phillies. As for Wrigley ,if you never seen it ,dude, its a 90+ year old park with little changes during the past 70 years!Sports writers here in Chicago ,mostly all agree that its a delapidated wreck!Chuncks of concrete fell of the upper deck last year numerous times! They had to put a net up there to stop it from falling on the fans in the lower deck!An ex Chicago Bear ,& now one of our most listened to sports radio talk show hosts,Doug Buffone,Said the ballpark was horrible to play in from a players standpoint in the 60's&70's when he played there. Now he interviews Cubs in the players facilities & says its about as crappy now as it was when he played there. The clubhouse floods in rainy weather!
Yes keep the faith ,the 'Stros got the nucleus of a World Series winner team,IMO just need a couple of good bats.
aww i gotcha... yeah i did make that statement incorrectly... but it was the fartherest we had ever made it until then i think... could be wrong agian... sorry bout that.. and yea i do see your point exactly... if the fans stopped coming then they would build a newer and better park... so why do the fans keep going if the place is falling apart? is it just to say they went to Wriggley Field or what? I mean i like baseball but im not gonna risk having a chunk of concrete fall on me... lol just common sense i guess... haha

Dashboardrunner, you might be too young to remember,(or a better excuse yet, were'nt born) to have seen the '80 Astros, they came within an out or 2 of making it to the Series.Your correct this is the farthest they've been,& probably their best team ever.
As to Wrigley,I think its all hype, comming from the cheep Cubs ownership, who try to convince everyone that the eyesore,& anchient ediface is such a great place to watch a game.Bullshiite,if it was so great why is it falling apart, litteraly.God knows what'll be next, the roof collapsing?A lot of Cubbie fans take pride in that shiite hole for some reason,& love the fact the Cubs have such a loosing reputation!Another reason is TV suprstation ,WGN,televises games all over the country via satelite & cable TV, & the Cubs announcers allways play up that rediculously old & inadequate excuse for a major league ballpark!.My brother picks them up where he lives in Shreveport ,so I know you probably get them too.Cheep does'nt win world series,or get good stadiums. If a cow town like Milwaukee can get a great retractible dome stadium, why can't the Cubs get at least a decent one?Afterall the metro Chicago area has got to be at least 10 times Milwaukees size. And yes if the fans stay away in droves they wiil be forced to get one,& better players & upper managment too. With the recent success & pretty good stadium the Sox have it may now force thier hand, but it'll break their hearts too, having to shell out more cash. This is rediculous ,because only a few teams in Baseball are making large profits & I believe the Yankees & Cubs rank 1&2!
