Uhm. Yeah, lots of liars in here I bet

Besides, if you can do a pushup you CAN bench your own weight. Guaranteed. Same muscles involved. Now me, personally, I weigh 220lbs and I've been weight lifting for 4 years now and I don't go for maxing out as much as I go for reps. Last time I tried to max out I did 275 -- I like to just do 3 sets, 10 reps, of 235.. Its a good work out. Then I follow it up with leg press and follow that up with some curls. Speaking of that - anyone have any suggestions where I can buy some GOOD quality free weights? I need some new ones..

I just started lifting less then a year ago, and I weigh 170. Currently my max is 185, but I'm hoping for 200+ by the end of the year. Obtainable? I think so

Maybe I can piggyback with another question in this thread. Where does everyone go to work out, and how much do they like it? I go to the fitness center on base and I think it's a nice big place. 4 raquetball courts, sauna, indoor 1/8 mile track upstairs, and alot of weight equipment. It's really nice

I workout at a local gym, its nothing real fancy but its got everything I need. I've been working out for 2 years and a month and ive gone from 185 to 265 on bench. There was a period where my bench wouldn't go up any for about 5-6 months but I changed my chest workout a little and its finally going up again. Also, like someone else said, 200lbs is fairly easy to obtain if you will actually workout and not just mess around...

And those 2 ppl weigh less that most women do!
Yes, just look at my chiseled arm after 10 yrs or so from not lifting . And when I did lift in HS, it was for 25 min workouts , alternating chest/back, shoulders/arms, legs/midsection. Now I just run about 5~6 miles everyother day, because theres not much else to do here :(

Back when I was a Soph in HS I wieghed 125 and benched 240 4 times. I wiegh 155-160 now but stopped working out a few years ago so I have no idea what my max is now but I'm sure it less.

dead wrong. pushups a lot of the weight is on your feet, not your chest.

and if youve been lifting for 4 years and weight 220 and can only do 275, you need to work much harder. but then again, you may not be goin for brute strength.

and no liar here, you guys saw my recent post about my fitness goal.

Uhm - I cant exactly max out on what I have here at home. Last time I maxed out was about a year and a half ago and I was going for stamina not maxing out. Theres many types of bodybuilding you can do -- brute strength, toning, bulking up, cardio/stamina...

And yes - trust me, sure you are on your toes, but if you can do a pushup you CAN bench your weight - unless ofcourse if your a pansyass ;)

BTW: I love how a lot of you guys are benching double your weight. I hope to be seeing you all in my next copy of Muscle & Fitness ;)
