How bout instead of taxing everything, we vote politicians in that don't spend the states money on stupid ****. I know that Indiana has one of the worst revenues in the US. I can't even remember the last time taxes in this state DIDN'T go up the next year. Thank you Gov. O'Bannon, and a very special thanks to our new governor, the cheap sadistic SOB that I forgot his name.... :D

Vote Republcian and big oil and we won't have to worry. State will still make plenty off reg gas tax.
Cars will still get less then 25MPG highway.

It makes perfect sense doesn't it? California keeps trying to make auto makers to come out with more fuel efficient cars, and now they're complaining about not selling enough gas. Those wacky Californians...

That's already happening in the orlando area - ordinary surface roads - notlimited-access highways are now toll roads (South Goldenrod Road & Osceola Parkway for starters). And how about that $2.00 toll plaza in Sanford on the Greeneway? Its like about $6 one way in tolls from I-4 to OIA on the Greeneway.

Defintiley O-town is honestly the toll capital of the world... tell you the truth I barely notice it, but damn, you can't speed seems like by the time you floor it out of a toll booth and get to a speed considered speeding you are slowing down for the next toll..

Maybe it was all a big plot...
Gas prices will go up along with the Mileage Tax and make a few people extremely wealthy...
I'll be buying HPTuners to edit my mileage :D

There's a better way that they could make up the lost revenue than putting a tracking device in your car, which is also a violation of privacy. No way in hell anyone is ever putting a damn tracking device in my car.

I think the gallon tax is more fair than the mileage tax.

Because heavier vehicles wear and damage the roads more than lighter vehicles. And more fuel efficent viehicles tend to be lighter.

Therefore, fuel efficient vehicles tend to cause less damage to the roads, saving maintenance costs.

I wonder if they will tax mother nature?
When she lets it rain it tears up the roads, and the wind blows trees down on the road, she should be held accountable!

Doesn't this classify our government as "indian givers"? When I was a kid, we used to call people indian givers when they gave you something and took it back... that is kind of what they're doing. Building roads, now taking them back unless we pay to use them.

But we do pay to use them... a good deal of the gas taxes go towards high ways. You pay state taxes which go to fix up the roads. You're paying for the roads.

Anyways, I still think it's a great idea. The government still has to make up for the lost revunues because the fuel efficent cars aren't buying enough gas.
Tax the car manufacturers then!!! This idea is plain and simple.
