I just got a telemarketer call

on my cell phone saying my domain is about to axpire, and I need to rene.? They probably got it from my business site because it lists my contact info.

WTF, first off its not my ISP, because they email me when my domains about to expire. Secondly, my personal domain expires mid next year, my business domain doesn't expire until jan 07. Neither dates are soon.

Well, looks like I need to add the cell to the do not call registry.

You'll also get loads of junk mail too. Some domain registrars have people on the payroll that just cruise the internet getting WHOIS info from domain owners and sending out mail, calling, emailing, etc... trying to get you to switch your domain over to their registrar.

I get ones in the mail right around the time my domains expire to "renew" my domain before it expires, when in reality it's a form to transfer it to them.

Switch to a registrar that offers 'private registration'. In a whois their name shows up instead of yours.

I heard about all this going on so I added on the private registration when I ordered my domain about a week ago.

pfft. im on the do not call registry and still get telemarketers calling me all the time.
