I'm glad you brought that up, yes it's in Ontario, Calif. I forgot exactly how many cars they impounded. I know for sure it was over a hundred and they made over a hundred arrest. The cops said that it was like a scene in the Fast & the Furious.

This place is only 7 miles away from me. It is nutty to go driving around that area. Ricers just love to take a shot at you. I just ignore them.

Most of these cars are not even registered in their names, but their parents. Some of them didn't even have insurance or current tags.

These cars will be impounded for good, auctioned or destroyed.

You know the first car they destroyed because of street racing was a 3rd gen. Camaro. They even display it in front of the police headquarter.

They shouldn't be street racing. Maybe next time they'll think first.

if you put thousands into your street car for street racing and the only thing you have it for is to street race then the only way to stop these people is probably to crush the car. i used to think differently, but now im not too sure its a bad idea.

I work near Newark. My students always ask me to go racing over there with my car...I say yeah.... riiiiight. They've been street racing there every weekend for "at least" 10 years now. The kids always tell me stories about how they have to run from the cops over there. Sounds enjoyable, huh?!?! lol

That would be cool if they let you watch all them imports get destroyed. I'd pull up a seat . Better than going to watch a movie.

Yeah, It would probably sound like a whoopy cushion having those civic with big fart cans being crushed. I'd pay to watch.

I'm with chet mo on this one. I can't see setting up a race or planning something out, or even going to a F & F type idiocy, but if someone revs at me when I'm at a light and its the middle of the night and I can tell no one is around(cops or bystanders), the gloves are off and 367 horsies hit the ground running.

i only do it if im provoked. ill take it as high as the speed limit, maybe a little over. but it has to be completely clear. if not i just ignore them. luckily the ricers for the most part stay away from the Muscle cars around here so i rarely get a rev anyways.

if you would have asked me a few years back id say the law is but im getting older and have way to much to lose in life by street racing and having the possibility of wrecking or killing someone. if i want to see my car haul a$$ i'll go to the track. i think the punishment is a little harsh but it does keep alot of idiots off the streets.

I don't believe in street racing. The conditions are not right for racing and innocent people get hurt, but how the hell is it legal for the cops to crush a car they don't own? I understand losing a lic, getting arrested etc, but crushing their car. I know driving is a priveledge and not a right, so I understand the lic thing. The car is someones property which you pay property taxes on. How is that legal? I'm surprised lawyers aren't jumping all over this one.

a car being confinscated is like taking someone's bong when being arrested for smkoing weed. what the police does with it is their business cause its theres now

A bong and a car are not the same thing unless you pay taxes and registered your bong. Also, most registered cars are street legal. I don't think a bong is legal to have if your carrying weed. Sure they can impound them until you pay a fee, but crush them?

If I lent my car to my son (when I have kids) and he races it on the street and gets caught, he should go to jail and I should have to pay to get my car back from the impound yard. If they crushed my car, I would sue the police dept.
