• I hate 'So called' friends

I had a 'friend' try and get me a job. The job wasn't the best, but it was a step forward in the business I want to get in. It was a job installing professional sound systems, the company installed sound systems for churches.

Well, my 'friend' who I've known for about 9 years, was supossedly pulling for me to get this job. Also, my 'friend' is pretty high up in the company, and has a lot of pull on who gets hired. Needless to say I call them up today, and I didn't get the job. I mean, this really, really pisses me the **** off. I've known and worked with this guy at my church for 9 years. He knows that I learn fast and have a good work ethic.

I'll give you an example on how the heirarchy of this company goes. Owners > department heads (only two, my friend is one) > workers. The guy works directly under the owners, and I was applying for his department.

Hey, i know this isn't what you're expecting to hear, but maybe they hired someone who was more qualified with know-how and experience. If everyone was hired just because they knew someone we would have people with the intelligence of chimps doing jobs that require more brain than they have.

Jobs are a joke these days. I'v wasted hundreds of dollars on several interviews in the past year.

Jobs these days are all about how far can you bend over and let your employeer bang you for how long.

If they know your a tough guy with lots of self esteem and a go get attitude, forget anything but a sales job.

That's all I can land, is sales and I suck at sales, but i continue to get the jobs because im happy, outgoing, lots of selfesteem and friendly.

In order to land any other job without lots of qualification you need to grab your ankles, tell your boss you dont want insurance, you dont want full time pay, you dont want vacation time, you dont want anything but a RAW deal.

Sure you will get the job. Working at $8.00 an hour 40+ hours a week. Woo Woo a $240 check everyweek, wow thats enough to pay for...

Not rent.
Not a car.
Still no doctor visit.

Yes, school is still the key to success. Or just looking like JFK Jr.

If you look like JFK Jr you can land a job anywhere, no experience needed.

I don't talk to him much anymore. My mom sees him all the time and I heard about the job through her. Now that I've cooled down some, it's probably better I didnt get the job, I'd be traveling a lot and would have very little time for my own business I plan on starting here very soon.

Malice - thats an *** thing to do. Its shotty unloaders like you that people like me at UPS get cursed out daily. I hope you do get fired, and if I noticed you doing that, I'd let the steward know what was really going on so when they represented you, they wouldn't try nearly as hard.

And the only way they put you on the trailers by yourself at our hub is if you're a slow or a crappy worker...they punish you by making you load the Orlando trailer by yourself.

Yeah go ahead, keep doing things like that and eventually when the new contract in 2008 comes along and they cut our benefits down again because of losses...you'll be the first one complaining of higher co-pays or other reasons.

Malice, how about you go get yourself fired so that way customers like myself get our packages the way we're supposed to... INTACT! Bah, just give your job to a person who doesn't have one. Just look around for a man who's got a family and needs it, I'm sure he'll be more grateful.

hey malice...great job *******..those people are going to get their packages and switch over to FedEx..i also work at UPS and i have never heard anyone brag about breaking a package like its something cool to do. cuz its really not..i seriously hope that they catch you being a dumbass one day and fire you because i dont want UPS to be associated with someone like you. if your not going to take enough pride in your work to do it right, then dont do it at all.

Wow, there are a lot of UPS grunts here. What positions do all of you have? I am a loader. I have been for about 2 months. Before that, I was an unloader.

My scanner said I loaded 587 pieces into one trailer at the end of the night. I probably didn't break anything, but I was getting a little rough. I kept getting oversize stuff, smalls that weren't in bags, wierd shaped stuff that wasn't boxed up, etc... It was the worst trailer ever.

I have been a loader for 2 months, and I still haven't been trained... at all. I had to figure out how to use the wrist scanners on my own. I was never trained on how to properly build walls or load a trailer. My supervisor constantly teases me about how I suck at loading and building walls. I have asked him at least 6 times to spend a few minutes training me on how to load better. He just laughs at me, and calls me stupid.

I got yelled at for having 53 miss-toggles last week. I didn't know what the hell a miss-toggle was, so they explained it to me as they *****ed at me.

I told the head shift supervisor that I haven't ever been trained, and he said he would "work on it". I'm still waiting.

UPS is a terrible company. I will never ship anything with them again. When I buy stuff on Ebay, I request FedEx shipping.

I put my 2 weeks notice in on sunday. I graduated college, and I am done putting up with thier bullsh1t. The supervisors are lazy. Everyone at the Hub hates thier guts. I can't believe that they will yell at me for doing a bad job, when they refuse to train me how to do my job right.
