  • tag expired ticket

why in the world would i be charged 137.50 for my tag being expired and (lets pretend) the other guy over there is doin 70 in a 50 and only have to pay 125.00 or the lady infront of me not wearing a seat belt only 10.00 . That's a little ridiculous. Oh well my car has been in the shop since june (just got it back yesterday and get pulled over yesterday) and its still not running right i hear like metal fan blades on a metal walls sound coming from my clutch area...

I guess i'm gonna go to court and show them a receipt of the car being in the shop since june and i just got it yesterday went and picked it up from the shop that is located 2 hours north of me. think that will work?

and any good reason why expired tag is sooo freakin much?

I don't see how that will do much. I know with Florida, they mail you a letter saying that it's time to renew it, and with that letter you can take care of it online. Also, in Florida, if your registration expires, I believe that your insurance can be cancelled. I'm pretty sure that the judge will say that it was your responsability to take care of the registration.

It is just tax revenue to the state - logic has nothing to do with it. They raise taxes wherever the tax hike seems to be able to work, regardless if it makes sense.

 That's just the way it is.

As far as it being in the shop, as long as you won the car, you owe the tax - regardless of whether it is in the shop or whatever.

I called the tag department and asked them, she said i gotta sign a paper saying it was not being driven and have a receipt from the shop. That's cool but i still gotta pay for the ticket i guess im not gonna worry about it, give these dang people their money and they can leave me the heck alone.

in my mind its like this some old man has an old rusting vehicle sitting in his back yard or whatever doesn't have to renew the tag on it every year, if they fix it up they have to have some sortof way to say the vehicle was not being used, that would be some heavy debt he might has well not ever drive it again then.
