He is (going to be?) a pilot in the Marines. After starting to think about joining the military, I realized that I wanted to be a pilot. This dream was quickly dashed to pieces when I discovered some of the requirements. So have fun living my dream, malice may you never require corrective lenses!

Wow, I'm flattered.
Yeah, the Marines does have a lot of old, beat up equipment. That is why the Commandant always says: "We do more with less."
I would really like to fly the F/A-18.
Second choice would be the EA-6B
third is the V-22

When I first applied for Marine PLC, three years ago, I was told I couldn't be a pilot. I settled for an NFO position, and cut my losses so-to-speak. THey opened up the PRK option about 18 months ago. I had my MOS switched about a month ago. I had to get a lot of examinations from different eye doctors, but I have secured myself a front seat position in primary flight school.
I don't know how old you are, but if you are under 28, and have a college degree, I urge you to apply again. My roomate had the same surgery and he has a flight slot in the Navy.
If the recruiting officer gives you any trouble, email me. I will set you up with my OSO.1999 red camaro v6 M5: with a turbo
13.52@107.99
No, seriously: Who Farted?
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/600086

Officer corps seems fine to me. I'm getting infantry enlisted time for the experience and then I'm going mustang. No way I would be a pilot though. That's a lot of training...lot of bullcrap to deal with too (huaw as usual).
Enjoy it though. I would love to get a pilots license, but I wouldn't want to fly military, too much crap to deal with for me.2005 Ford Focus ZX3 SE D20 M5 - Modified ;) http://www.knightenmotorsports.com
[ U R L = h t t p : / / w w w . g e o c i t i e s . c o m / h e a r t l a n d _ h e a t _ v 6 ] Heartland Heat V6 [ / U R L ]

Yeah, I am gonna be "one of them". I am getting comissioned as a 2LT in about 3 weeks.
I didn't cop out and go through ROTC, however.

Marines don't have that. I went through PLC. Basically, I went through the full OCS before I got my degree.1999 red camaro v6 M5: with a turbo
13.52@107.99
No, seriously: Who Farted?
http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/600086
