Well got a ticket in my bird yesterday for 80 in a 70 and window tint. The cop wrote down the wrong highway social security number and also the fine was $50 for speeding $60 in court costs and $10 for the tint totalling $100. My question is would that be worth fighting in court. I have to contact the DA anyway because it is a misdemeaner(sp) in Kansas for window tint is it worth trying to fight it or plea it down?

Always fight. Email me, and I'll give you a defense that'll work almost all the time. Sorry CamaroSLP, I hate cops who post speed traps! my email address is smilinluigi@yahoo.com. I already won 2 cases, and am in the middle of an appeal on a 100+ mph case. (proved my case, but judge was an @$$...long story).Sinister Six

1998 Sport Metallic Gold Firebird A4:

Whisper Lid, 5% Limo Tint, 30th Anniversary Side Stripes, 3\" Borla Catback Dual Exhaust, Man Fan Switch, SLP CAI
http://members.cardomain.com/98goldbird

quick question for domestic...ive heard from former CHP, that if you speed or made an illegal U-turn, etc.. and got pulled over, that you are not supposed to admit what you did wrong even if you know what you did was wrong. He said, that by admiting he can use that in court and secondly he will be less likely to let you go and be an @ss about it since you disregard the law. is that true? and whats your take on this\"Aren\'t you a little short for a stormtrooper?\"
~~Star Wars
Orange Bird01

my primary job is traffic so i'm sort of a traffic nazi. if you see my lights behind you, you can almost be certain you are going to get a ticket. in that respect, i will make it as quick as possible and not hold you up any longer than i have to; that is unless you decide to argue and i decide to add some time to the stop. in writing loads of tickets, my job is also to determine where most of the accidents occur, what roads are more dangerous, who is the maniac living on your street, things like that. i routinely work with street maintenance departments to fix problem areas. i work on ways to make traffic flow better so you're not held up in traffic all day. i work to get speed limits raised or lowered. i work to insure that you and your loved ones get home safely and quickly, whether it be you or someone else doing something excessive that could cause an accident. i want to be the one people fear when they drive through my city. i want them to abide by the law so we don't have accidents; like the one monday where a person was killed.
patrol officers don't ordinarily go hunting for traffic tickets. they hunt for traffic stops. less than 2% of all crimes committed are caught by police officers while the offense is being committed. that being the case, traffic stops allow an officer to come into contact with more people thus allowing more people to be checked on, more property to be inspected, etc. that leads to more stolen property recovered, more wanted people taken off the streets, more contraband confiscated, more drugs off the street, etc. traffic laws are still enforced, but there are more agendas with a general patrol officer. they may stop a car because of the house they just left from. we have patrol guys who love popping expired stickers. they get loads of arrests out of that. one guy took a colt python from a dopehead felon last week over an inspection sticker. i can't even begin to tell you how much crap i've discovered off of simple traffic stops.
when you look at agencies, a larger agency has the burden of running from call to call. smaller agencies have more time to work traffic and conduct more investigations. it doesn't mean they're butt holes, it means they're doing their job. would you rather them sit on their butt at the donut store or try and find your stolen stereo?
now that you know the jist of it, it all depends on who stops you and what their motivation is. when i'm in a bad mood, i actually write less tickets than when i'm in a good mood. when you're in a bad mood, do you feel like going out and busting your azz at work? i don't get a raise for writing more tickets. the state says i can't get any kind of reward for writing tickets. if i didn't write tickets though, would you be still be cautious of your driving if you knew you wouldn't be penalized for it?
all that backstory for some simple questions. if you're an azz to me or not, you're probably going to get a ticket. i hate writing nice people tickets, but it's not against the law to be an a-hole and a traffic violation is still a traffic violation. if you're a serious a-hole, you're probably going to get more than you would have gotten had you just kept your mouth shut.
anything you say about the stop can be used against you. i produce video of my stops in court. defense attorneys will tell you all day long to keep quiet, but guess who blurts out admission to their mistakes before i even tell them why i stopped them? defense attorneys.
just be polite about it. if they come off like a butt and you are polite, they won't look good in court if you ask to see video. if you are an a-hole, they won't ever forget you and any chance you had of getting a warning probably just went out the window.
some cops come off like real pricks. i work with some great guys, but if they stopped me, i'd think they were buttholes. it's not that they're trying to be, but they sure seem like it. they are essentially using their voice to gain compliance. if you're stern with people, sometimes they are less likely to argue. they don't treat people bad, but their demeanor just makes it seem that way. i usually get a 'thank you' after my stops. i try to be nice. many people have complained on me for being rude or treating them badly. sadly for them, i produce video showing how much of a jerk they were and i was still calm and polite towards them. i understand it's just their immaturity to get back at me out of spite. usually when i write you, i forget about you unless you go to court. i wrote 19 tickets today. i couldn't tell you a single name of any of the people i stopped. i'd say roughly 40% of my traffic stops result in me getting cussed at, called names, threatened to be fired, not having anything better to do, stuff like that. i've heard it all and am pretty immune to losing any sleep over it. it's just good for a short laugh after the stop. when i run across someone who is polite, it's a relief. imagine if at your job, almost half of the people you dealt with pretty much told you they hate your guts and called you all sorts of names? after a while, you start to develop less pity for people when you do stop them. when i first started, i hated writing people tickets. now, i can write 90 year old blue hairs their very first ticket.
i don't know if this makes any sense to you, but maybe you at least understand the other side of it. even if they come off like a butt, be polite and i bet they change their tune with you. whether you want to admit to it or not is your business. next time you see that officer, he'll probably let you off or wave, depending on how you come into contact. just remember, if you're a butt, he won't forget.

honestly in my youth I was much dumber...
I have liek 40ish pullovers(I lost count over 35), and only ~12 tickets...
Thats a good ticket to pullover ratio in my book, I am always curtious and polite ot officers, and show them that I am an idiot and I did wrong. Actually what DV said makes alot of sence, ever time a FHP pulled me over I got a ticket, only FHP guy I ever got sympathy from was the guy that gave me failure to observe a traffic control device instead of 67 in a 45. I was still grateful for even that.
BUt honeslty the best way to get out of a speeding ticket, is just be smart about it and try not to let your car stick out in traffic when going down the road.

When I get pulled over I just realize, the cop is the one in power, I have nothing to prove by acting like a hardass... I kiss his *** and beg for his mercy pretty much. And first and most important tell hime that I am a stupid retard because most the tmes I was, a stupid retard...
but I have had a fair share of B.S. pullovers... but for the most part cops were cool about those.

What aspect of the ticket do you want to fight? Were you doing 80 in a 70? Do you believe your tint falls within the legal limits of the jurisdiction?
If you believe you were not doing 80 mph in a 70 mph zone and you are not guilty of the charges then, as Domestic Violence points out, a real lawyer would do you better than an "Internet" lawyer.SLP CAI, K&N, Whisper Lid, 180* thermo, manual fan switch, 3.42 gears, Auburn Pro LSD, Wester\'s PCM Tuning, TSP Rumbler, High Flow Cat.
