I think the only cars that actually have a "wave" that almost everyone participates in are:
all motorcycles
Corvettes
Jeeps (Wrangler type not Cherokee)

Firebird Base / Camaro (Wave to other F-bodies is mandatory)
Formula / Trans AM / Z28 (Wave is optional)
