You still are blaming others for your bad driving.
This was not a "freak" accident. There would not have been any accident if you had been driving 10 MPH.
Other drivers on the road should not have to tolerate a driver who can't handle driving on wet roads. Other drivers should not have to be endangered by you.
I did no damage to anyone in the first place everglades. Im not a risk to anyone. I also learned that the lumina is not my camaro. My camaro is great in rain. That was my problem i havnt drove the lumina enough to know it like the cam.I still didnt think i was goin fast enough to make all that happen. I learned my lesson and Mustang Eater i did answer your question. Its on Page 1. Il say it again I did fail to keep control of the car and i get to pay the court for it. Its true money does make the world go round. Makes the court system go round too.
I can tolerate driving on wet roads. Give me some credit ffs. That was my first time driving that road in rain. I didnt know that corner being wet would make that much of a difference. Of course your gonna say i was speeding. Well i thought i was goin a safe enough speed to make it. I just happened to be wrong. Everglades I didnt hit anyone and i caused no harm to anyone and i dont pose a threat to anyone. It just happened. Like i said before i Learned from this....

I think he took responsibility pretty damn well. He admits to losing control, and I'm sure he felt if he doesn't still feel like a jackhole. Lesson learned. Nobody's perfect, the cop said it himself. I see no reason to punish an ordinary 16-yr old just because something bad happened to him, because this sort of thing can happen to anybody. Look at the car he's used to: a sporty, low slung camaro with good tires. What was he driving? A less-sporty, higher-centered car with weak tires.
Whose fault? Nobody's but his, but it wasn't like he was going 140.
You guys should be ashamed of yourselves, acting like you were never 16. Come on, douschebags, this could have happened to any one of you.
Thanks 98v6 that pretty much sums it up. Summarizes what ive been trying to say.

My intention was to get advice on how to get out of it and if anyone else has went through this before and what happened to them.

WHo the **** is a cop to tell i didnt maintain proper control. He gets to ****ing go as fast as he wants do donuts wreck his car get a brand new one. Who pays for a new cop car. Thats right the citizens. All the ****ing system wants is money. Hawgs please dont sit here and say your a god damn Angel whose never lost your car/ almost lost it. Driving experience couldnt of helped in this situation. It has to happen for you to learn. This was the first time happening so i learned.
Translation: I'm a small whining child. I don't have the experience to deal with a hydroplaning car. Thus I will blame others for my own faults. It isn't right that I get a ticket for something I did.
Response:  The cop is a cop. You are a whining kid. Get over it and be an adult. I've lost control of a car going 5 mph, almost hit a sign. Then I learned hey.. bald tires suck lets keep those replaced. If you get a ticket, ITS BECAUSE YOU ****ED UP! If you didn't **** up, go to court and get it dismissed. If you did **** up, admit it and stop whining. Your mother shouldn't have called anyone, you should have gotten on the phone and dealt with your own ****.
DISCLAIMER: We all know I'm an ******* its ok I admit it ;)

In VA they give tickets for "running" yellow lights to. I wiped out in my 200SX on the 90* turn right after the bridge going from Old Town Alexandria to regular Alexandria on Rt 1. WIped out all my front lights & ended up facing the oncoming traffic (not that ther was any at the time, 2AM). Cop came by, asked if anyone else was involved. There wasn't, so they said just go on home (I lived about 2~3 miles away in Crystal City). No ticket. Mybe the cop for you just wanted to make a quota, of at least get the tow truck paid????
The main reason the cop gave you a ticket was because a tow truck had to be called therefore it was actually an accident/wreck. If you had just done a 360 in the street you most likely wouldn't have gotten anything. However you made a papertrail that had to have an end to it ;)

Kinda a ******* way to put it(no offense) but I completely agree with it. Sometimes the truth is brutal. I got a ticket for inatentive driving because my rear brakes leaked on my chevelle and I didn't know it and I rearended someone that pulled out infront of me. Not caused anyway by my driving skills but because of equipment failure. Did I rearend her yes was it my fault partly she shouldn't have pulled out in front of me but I should have been aware of the condition of my car. Long story short **** happens.
Now some words of advice. You have to go to court the end. You are gonna have to pay a fine the end. Where you can do some good is talking to the judge or the city attorney depends on where you live and asking for a non moving violation so it stays off your record. Assuming that you haven't gotten any tickets they are usually fairly willing to do this. You might get lucky by chance and they will dismiss the ticket I did but it was because the lady I hit was an illegal alien(he he got to love it), but when you go to court yes mam/sir no mam/sir is always a good idea and dress nice and speak when spoken to you know the drill and you can probably get a non moving and a good lesson out of it.

*bites upper lip* I think I'm going to have to agree with Hawgs on this one too. You lost control, period. You say you've done that turn at 75 mph in the Camaro, then I thank god you got the ticket now to teach you to learn to drive more carefully. Even the best drivers in the world wreck, but they always take responsiblity and accept the consequences.
So... bottom line, SirShaun was at fault. The same thing happened to me 9 days after I got my license. Thanks for not blowing up at anyone, Shaun, even though the opportunity presented itself. Watch yourself from now on, I don't know how your state laws are but two tickets for a minor in Ohio is a 90-day suspension. I had two suspensions before I was 18 (I'd be happy to tell you all about it if you want).
98Goldbird - we respect our law enforcement officers around here. You'll not last long around here unless you keep your opinion on this matter to yourself.
And... Hawgs + Grain of Salt = OK.
I'm pleased to see that this one didn't get too out of hand, just played out. Congratulations to... most of you.
I am re-opening this thread to ***** at the moron kids of this board who think they know everything.
Originally posted by 95Batmobile: I think what SirShaun is trying to say is that he didn't do any harm to any public or private property so why should he have to pay any court fines since the only thing involved is his car?
Where does the state come into play here? Oh thats right, they don't. But, they do need every excuse possible to issue tickets and collect fines. God forbid they miss out on their cut.
Because he COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE if there had been a car in the other lane. That's why a fine is called a PUNISHMENT. Its a slap on the wrist that is supposed to make you remember your mistake and not make it again. DUH...
Originally posted by SirShaun: My mom just called the court and i do have to go to court and its classified under wreckless driving. Has anyone else had this happen to them and what usually happens? I go to court the day before school starts if i lose my license i dont know what im gonna do. Also anyone know how much these tickets usually cost? No price on the ticket and the clerk never told my mom.
First off, it is RECKLESS driving, not WRECKLESS driving.
Second, here in Virginia, reckless driving is a criminal offense, not a traffic offense. This means that court is mandatory. A guilty finding means six points on your DMV driving record, skyrocketing insurance, and possible 10-30 days jail time.
The good news for you is that here in VA reckless driving is a catch-all for any sort of serious offense that does not have a specific charge associated with it. 90% of reckless driving tickets are reduced in court to Improper Driving which puts no points on your record but still has a decent fine.
You will go to court with your mother and/or father, the judge will hear the case and roll his eyes (another dumb teenager in the ditch), he will reduce it to improper and make you take a defensive driving class. Fine will be maybe $100.
Why do you have to take the whole day off to go to court? Why do your parents have to be there?
TO TEACH YOU A LESSON!
Because stupid brat teenagers who think the world revolves around them NEED to be *****slapped HARD in order to wake up and smell the coffee.
Look at this ****:

Thank you for that laugh, really, thank you! That is an absolute new best! I've heard dumbass stories of teenagers from my coworkers that have them but this truly takes the cake!
Yeah, I'm really scared of a bunch of nimrod sixteen-year-olds who can't even take a turn in the rain without running into the ditch... oh yeah, and with that tenth grade public school education they really know how economics, the state, and the criminal justice system works.
Originally posted by 98goldbird: do you know exactly how to not overcorrect in a situation where your car hydroplanes and you feel your automatic "FIRST HUMAN NATURE RESPONSE" is "oh $hit!!!
Actually, yes. I do know how to suppress the initial reaction to overcorrect. I learned it through years and years of experience.
Originally posted by 98goldbird: I have to ask you this (any cop)...if you were in the same situation as the cop, and you had the same converstation, etc, would you have given out the ticket??? Or would you have said to yourself, man, that sucks for this kid? All you adults out there think that you have to PUNISH all the young ones for any action just because it puts you in a higher authority over us.
Going back to Hawgs' example with the gun: if you accidentally shot your mother and killed her would the cop think "oh man, that sucks for this kid, I'll just let him go" or will he think "oh man, that sucks for this kid, I hope he gets a good lawyer to prove it wasn't intentional"? The cop was just doing his job. You screw up, you get a ticket. Simple, eh?
Originally posted by 98goldbird: I'm saying that he is accepting the consequences, but IS PISSED that he has to pay the court, etc for it. I'm a'm sure he's not going to be taking a turn like that at that speed in the rain again, because next time could be worse.
Ding, ding ding!!! Right. Next time the punishment could be jail time. The idea with a hefty fine and all the other junk associated with going to court is that it is a strong slap on the wrist that he won't soon forget. Hopefully, this way, there won't be a next time.
Originally posted by 95Batmobile: I wasn't saying that he didn't mess up...
I am saying it is wrong of the state to fine the kid when they really have no business in the matter.
Again... the state's business is to punish him for screwing up so hopefully he won't do it again. Learn that in 8th grade Civics class...
Originally posted by SirShaun: Im just having a hard time of understanding everytime a lil mishap occurs the state is getting paid from it. Its crooked as hell.
Call it what you will, the concept is for you to remember this the next time you decide to take turns too fast in the rain.
My Toyota is an incredible car in the rain and I am a very experienced driver. Yet I don't take turns over 30.
Still trying to find oil leak on my Camaro, it’s a tough one. I think it is the oil pressure sender myself. Leaking when raving and going into boost....
