haha do you mean the HP 635? I actually have that, well I gave it to my sister as a gift... ;)
Just from personal experience, I like my dad's Fuji A310. It's 3.3 MP and 3x optical zoom. It's fast enough with the shutter lag that you can kinda capture spotaneous incidents. It's faster than the HP that's for sure. I love the color production on the fuji too, that's one of their major strengths.

I have a Kodak LS443 I believe. Its incredible, but a tad expensive. It was 400$ when we bought it, almost a year ago. 4 MP, many settings (close up, action, auto, dark, distance, etc, and it takes videos with sound) it has a ton of features and really brings out alot of colors.
Not in your price range, but with most things you get what you pay for.

I think you can get it for about $230 now, might be a bit higher then you wanted...
its a nice all around camera, 3.2mpegapixel. and you can control the shutter speed from... 1/2000 a second to 15 seconds.
on the 1/2000th a second feature, pics come out black, because it so fast, light doesn even come in. Guess its good for taking pics of the sun or something. actually I just took a pic of a light bulb. PRetty cool you could see the element and everything. Makes the pic look dim even though I was taking a pic of a 75 watt light bulb

The pics with my Kodak are incredible. I once took a picture of a Cardinal with full zoom on, you could see the small shadows of its feathers. Then a few pics of butterflies, with varying zoom levels. Every picture was crystal clear.
