• Identity Theft, has this happened to you yet?

On Friday of last week, Verizon Wireless was taking $100 dollars a day from my checking account and they did it on Friday, Monday and Tuesday. They took a total of over $300.

My wife and I were wondering why we were going negative and our checks bouncing and the bank charging $70 insufficient fee. THen we found out someone was making unauthorized withdrawal.

We're not even a Verizon customer. Someone from their dept. was taking money from my account and they couldn't trace it. Actually they weren't much of a help. I had to cancel our debit and have the bank block and dispute it.

All in all, it's been a mess and we are upset. We were told identity theft do increase during the Christmas Holiday. So guys be careful with your credit and debit.

This is the second time I've had identity theft happen to me. Last time was in 1999, I was being sued for $4k for cancelling my lease and not paying my rent on a house. I have to travelled 60 miles to prove to the plantiff's lawyer and the police that it wasn't me and that I wasn't even of Mexican decent (plantiff identified me). They did caught the guy and I found out that he got my info. through a job application I put in awhile ago. He got my SS# and other stuff.

Yes, Laura my current girlfriend had her's stolen by her EX's new wife, Lauran. We just can't find those bastages to make things right, we have already taken care of most of the collection agencies and the credit agencies cause of the bad credit. Last night sprint calls wanting 308 dollars and we told them "we sent you a affidavit and the police report you can't contact us after 45 days get it cleaned off the credit report, and the certified mail was received and signed by *guys name*" plus we gave them information on who we think is responsible.

so after 30 days they HAVE to clear it off the credit report unless they contact us before the 30 days is up then they have an extra 15 days. but that was back in august they received and signed for the certified mail

one of my old supervisors had their house robbed, & later they had the identity theft thing. It was traced back to some losers in Texas, but the police there said they couldn''t do anyting about it since they couldn't prove the people at the address were the ones who actually were doing it.

Yikes! We'll definately keep on our toes..

The worst we've had happen is the hospital put a collection out my wife for a bill of her moms and we didn't even know it until we went to buy the house. That was sure a suprise on our flawless credit.

My dad has his identity stolen from a guy who moved here from mexico. The guy came into the US and started practicing medicine after my dad retired, in San Jose, CA. After 1.5 years, and many malpractice cases, they caught the guy. For a while, people were suing my father, because they thought it was really him that was doing the malpractice. That was a bit scary.

About 6 months back I got charges on my card I didn't approve thats all, it took a couple of visits to the bank to get it straightened out besides that, no.
I have yet to have that happen to me, and I hope it never does, I have heard the horror stories.

My friend had his identity stolen when he was like 4.
He had a house and credit cards and stuff when he was 4 or 5... then when he turned 18 he couldn't do much because of his terrible credit. The weirdest things happen to him..

Only thing like that that ever happened to me was a weird charge on my credit card... I just called my credit card company and they gave me a refund, simple as that

that sucks man. it happened to my mom about a year and a half ago or so and really ****ed up her credit. Opened like 3 or 4 crdit cards under her name in a few days and maxed them out in like 2 days from what we could determin from the account transcripts.

I am a victim of identity theft. Someone stole my black firebird and put a supercharger in it. Then the bastards came back and stole my 1989 black firebird.
