Inhaling smoke is not good for you. Why do you think you want to cough your brains out after taking a huge hit of weed? =D

And as far as it being safe...Yes, it's definitely a non-violent drug, especially when compared to alchohol. Although a pot head may get a bit violent if all the weed is gone or there are no more munchies left. =)
And, from experience, it throws off your perception of almost everything. Instead of driving being second nature, you find yourself having to concentrate extra hard just to drive normally. etc. etc. It also ****s with your short-term memory for sure. Prolly because your mind wanders so much when you are high or something yada yada...lol I better stop before I get flamed by some pothead. =)
Well, one more thing. I've witnessed the long-term effects of pot use on my dad. He's 50 and he still smokes. Now, he's a smart *** guy for sure. BUT, he has terrible fine motor skills and his short term memory is really sad. He gets frustrated all of the time forgetting little things. More than your average non-pot smoking person.

More importantly, it sets social policy. Smoking became "un-cool" so people kept voting to tax the crap out of it. The problem is, typically it is the poor who smoke. Furthermore, since it is an addiction, people will spend their money on smokes than on food for their kids(I have seen it.) Finally, there are mental illnesses out there where people cannot control their urge to smoke. (e-mail if you really want to know). So we are taxing the bejesus out of people already on medicare and foodstamps who cannot quit. It's disgusting, really.
Taxing of substances should only be used for helping the abusers. Smoke taxes should go to quit help centers (Politicians used to frame it that way, but then you hear gov x say "we can pay for that new highway with higher cig taxes".
We should not be setting solcial policy with people's taxes.
A different note. I read in a post that a drink a day is harmful. Several studies have shown that a drink a day can be helpful.
Oh, to stay on topic. Pot makes people do stupid things (as does booze). We are too far gone to get rid of booze, but why introduce another substance. It's out, keep it out.

its seems like you are all argueing that we shouldnt make it legal b/c people shouldn't do it... news flash! people do it. Making it legal isnt going to force people who are against weed to smoke it, it will only stop people who already smoke it from getting in trouble for it. People already drive around high and that ****, its not like making it legal will cause people to do that more often. Alcohol is legal but driving under the influence is not, what would make you think weed wouldnt be the same. Pot being illegal is doing nothing but using up police resources. Its not stopping people from growing it, selling it, using it... so why not make it legal, save on funds that are going towards arresting people that have done nothing wrong other than possesing a plant, and add tax revenue? I fail to see where anti-legalization people have any solid arguement other than "NO, i dont like it so no one else should"RedlineVSix

everyone can argue till they die about what weed does to your body, the economy, and others but those still arguing on the side of weed must either be doing it or not know someone who has been hurt by it but thats the same with any drug, alcohol, cigs or anything. by the way, i hate coffee too

You bring up a good point and you must excuse my ignorance. The loss of short-term memory can't be a good thing, however.
I see a lot of good arguments here, and I still don't think it's right, but if people vote in the measure and it's what they want then I'm not going to try and stomp on their civil liberties. I won't do it, and it's still illegal federally (as far as I know, that crap can change quick as hell though with the way things are going), but none of my troops better not be dumb enough to think that because they're stationed in Denver, it gives them the right to smoke weed.
Carry on folks, but admit it... weed STINKS bad.Check out my stable of supercharged W-Bodies <a href=\"http://www.fullthrottlev6.com/forums/vbgarage.php?do=view&id=136\" target=\"_blank\">HERE</a><br /><b>\'97 Pontiac GP GTP Coupe</b><br /><b>\'98 Regal GS | L67 3800 Series II</b>

i really have to disagree with that. i find it hard to choose which class smokes more cause alot of different people in each class smokes.
