Legalize it and tax the crap out of it. hell, make it more expensive than tobacco stuff. the potheads will still buy it, then we can give the cash to schools, or the army or something. :D

weed is like alchohol and tobacco combined in to one little wrapper. anyone who smokes anything knows they're most likely killing theirselves slowly. weed or tobacco or whatever.

a guy i work with smoked every day, said were all going to die someday, im just going to die sooner.

If it doesnt kill you it can only make your lungs stronger right?
    smoke crap cause its sexy

then we'll have to pay for pot head rehab centers, because the local gov't will need to run them, just like wellfare homes.

            http://www.drug-rehabs.org/faqs/FAQ-marijuana.php

and not that you probably care, but:

            Is marijuana use addictive?

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Long-term marijuana use can lead to addiction for some people; that is, they use the drug compulsively even though it often interferes with family, school, work, and recreational activities. According to the 2001 National Household Survey on Drug Abuse, an estimated 5.6 million Americans age 12 or older reported problems with illicit drug use in the past year. Of these, 3.6 million met diagnostic criteria for dependence on an illicit drug. More than 2 million met diagnostic criteria for dependence on marijuana/hashish.57 In 1999, more than 220,000 people entering drug abuse treatment programs reported that marijuana was their primary drug of abuse.58

Along with craving, withdrawal symptoms can make it hard for long-term marijuana smokers to stop using the drug. People trying to quit report irritability, difficulty sleeping, and anxiety.59,60 They also display increased aggression on psychological tests, peaking approximately 1 week after they last used the drug.61

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            What treatments are available
            for marijuana abusers?

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Treatment programs directed at marijuana abuse are rare, partly because many who use marijuana do so in combination with other drugs, such as cocaine and alcohol. However, with more people seeking help to control marijuana abuse, research has focused on ways to overcome problems with abuse of this drug.62

One study of adult marijuana users found comparable benefits from a 14-session cognitive-behavioral group treatment and a 2-session individual treatment that included motivational interviewing and advice on ways to reduce marijuana use.63 Participants were mostly men in their early thirties who had smoked marijuana daily for over 10 years. By increasing patients' awareness of what triggers their marijuana use, both treatments sought to help them devise avoidance strategies. Use, dependence symptoms, and psychosocial problems decreased for at least 1 year after both treatments. About 30 percent of users were abstinent during the last 3-month followup period. Another study suggests that giving patients vouchers for abstaining from marijuana can improve outcomes.64 Vouchers can be redeemed for such goods as movie passes, sports equipment, or vocational training.

No medications are now available to treat marijuana abuse. However, recent discoveries about the workings of THC receptors have raised the possibility that scientists may eventually develop a medication that will block THC's intoxicating effects. Such a medication might be used to prevent relapse to marijuana abuse by reducing or eliminating its appeal.

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            Where can I get
            further scientific
            information about marijuana?

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fact sheets on marijuana, other illicit drugs, and related topics are available free, in English and Spanish, by calling NIDA Infofax at 1-888-NIH-NIDA (1-888-644-6432) or, for those with hearing impairment, 1-888-TTY-NIDA (1-888-889-6432).

Information on marijuana and related topics also can be obtained through NIDA's home page, www.drugabuse.gov, and from the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) at 1-800-729-6686. NCADI's Web site is www.health.org.

                addicitive?? lol

anything that has the potential to be habit forming may be technically "addictive", including compulsive behaviors; but physical withdrawals?? I'd have to call on that one.

and LS32, as far as "killing braincells", there is NO scientific basis for that whatsoever; what is known is that cannabinoids bind to the same anandamide-based opioid receptors as chocolate, do a number on short-term memory (perhaps an antagonistic effect on acetylcholine) while under the influence, and perhaps makes a person amotivational while high, but aside from that, doesn't deplete any neurotransmitter levels, or even harm dendrites.

now that doesn't seem like much of a "brain cell killer" to
                me.

and looch, lol post some REAL informative links, not ones with agendas

eh, to hell with ya. i'm not going to put any effort into this. :D

im not the one smoking the stuff. i'd much rather drink myself silly.

                  go back to your doobies

seriously though, id be way more worried about smoking weed just for the "smoking hurts your lungs" aspect of it than anything else. i love the people i meet here at school who talk about how bad cigs are for you and then light up on some marajuana.

does smoking weed discolor your teeth too, like tobacco cigs do?

I just have to start by saying, i love marijuana, i love it, its part of who i am, and im still smarter and more active than most of the people i know. I just want to say that im so happy that people like 96RS Alex and Kinetic exist in this world, cause when peopler refuse the facts like these people have accepted, it makes me sick to my stomach. thank god for them, right on, toke on.

one thing you arent factoring in is the fact that the people with the lungs you see in these pictures smoke two packs or more a day

I dont think smoking a joint or two a day would compare.

No one smokes as much pot as cigarettes!

and loochy, did you know (this is taught in schools by the way) that one shot of vodka has more lasting harmful effects on your body than one joint? go drink yourself silly, then when you die from some drunken accident, take your pick, or from psoriases of the liver or something, i can take your job. way to be intelligent buddy.

i dont think a beer a day will do that to me, one with dinner. only time i drink more is in the company of 3 or 4 good friends sitting around watching tv or something, nothing too exciting or accident prone.

i never drive when i drink at all.

you smoke a cig a day, and ill drink a beer a day, and well see who's being eaten by earthworms first. :D

and whats this about taking my job, i dont have one right now, not a good one anyway, im a college student. though if you want to do my macro economics homework you can have at it.

                                </font>
eh, doesnt matter for me. i dont smoke the stuff, but i dont think people would die left and right like everyone seems to imply. we know you cant stop people from smoking their lungs to death, just like we cant stop people from poisoning their livers.

you can educate people, but you cant make them listen.

its like riding a motorcycle, you can tell people how deadly they can be, but it doesnt hit home till you and your girlfriend are flying through the air at 60 miles per hour cause the guy behind you on the highway wasnt paying attention when you stopped.

1 a day can be good for you.

cant say that about anything you have to breathe in through a paper filter.
