And stop saying the twin turbo thing, because right from the start of designing an engine the decide how it is going to be set up. It isn't like they say we need more power slap on twins, they set up the whole thing to incorperate it and therefore it is part of the enigne, focus on the fact that the MB has after market goodies on it!

        Bench racers at their finest.

What if the Z06 had nawsssssss?

And... for a car (close to 5,000 pounds) to pull away from another car (3,000 pounds) at 140 mph and drive to 170+.... that is pretty damn impressive!

why not just race a cadillac 16 against the benz; it weighs 5000 too

actually, that would be pretty cool... luxury vs. luxury; xv-16 vs. v12

and throw a bugatti veyron in there, to clown on both of them.

ive always thot these threads were pretty amusing too. i think their point James is that racing heads up theyre are only comparing straight line performance, in that regard they are almost identical, so thier point is dollar per hp ur better of with a Z06. but i also agree with u that the MB is a better OVERALL car in all other ways except MPG and performance.

The very fact that this comparison is being made is sad for the Benz. That wasn't a "stomp" at all. Sorry.

While it's true that "Heads-up" racing is run what you brung, and that whoever has the most toys wins (at least in racing), it's obvious everyone has a differing point of view on what's desirable in a vehicle. Some like a well-balanced performance vehicle that can haul *** in the straights and the curves, while others like a big car that's confortable with all the amenities and a huge engine that can haul it around at a good pace.

Noone's ever going to agree on this race, so maybe we should leave it at that?

and technically, shouldn't this be in the kill section, since it involves one car "stomping" another? or even in "other rides (i wish I had)"

ok, yeah the benz barely won and all, and yes the vette engine is one of the best made by GM in years, but at the end of the day, a Benz is a Benz, I don't care that the vette is faster and cheaper, a Benz will still be a benz and will get more looks and status than the vette.
A civic could get next to my vette, and beat me with all his mods and ****, and then say "hey it cost me 10K less to beat u", listen man, his civic will not get more looks and sexy girls wanting to ride in it than a C6. A c6 will be a c6 and still hotter no matter if its slower than the souped up civic.

So the moral is, don't compare price and brand when talking about who beats who, just talk about the engine and don't talk about price or how many cars you can buy with that money. I bet the guy owning that benz also probably owns someone's life. ( you know give them jobs, as in one rich man)

it is impossible to ignore price and brand. u want performance but not everyone is willing to spend a large amount. there will always be fan loyalty and competition only helps improve the product.
and the "hotness" factor or appearence of a car is completely subjective to taste, and IMHO I like the Z06 better. since they are racing heads up all we are comparing is straight line speed we have to look at dollar per hp. some people dont need a 11 sec monster so they get a civic and "customize" that. if u wana compare every lil feature and iminity then james can buy the MB and we can compare the whole shi-bang-ibang. u get what u pay for, the z06 is just as fast but less stuff-the benz is 2x the car for alil more than 2x the price. however some like me dont care at all about luxury so i would never buy the MB but I can still appreciate what went into it.

whew sorry for the long post and to conlude, like L32 sed were never going to all agree.People will buy what they like- PLEASE LET THIS THREAD DIE ALREADY!!!

If that wasn't enough, later in the thread, the guy posts a link to a higher quality version of the video, NOT ON STREETFIRE, and it is indeed a Z06. Here's the video http://media.putfile.com/C6-Z06-stoc...U--Exhaust/800 you can see the hood "scoop" and the brake ducts in the larger version.
