Ka50,
Why don't you find out all the facts before you go flaming people and what they do. You do not know all the facts and you're running your mouth on assumptions; you know what they say about that...
Edit: Sorry to be so rude, but you honestly do not know what DV goes through on a regular basis. You have no reason to be flame posting on this thread.Patrick
Sick Sixx Member
97 Mystic Teal Camaro
425RWHP @14PSI
Old setup:
330RWHP @7PSI 13.9 @ 106.6 Mods

Look at his attitude about his vehicle and stuff that happens. It sounds to me like he's actually proud of ****ing up his car so much. He's not the one who's paying for it, so put that pedal to the metal, right?
Just a simple reference to his Camaro as a hoe signifies a lot. Well, in my opinion there's only one hoe and it's DV. I think he needs to give up the Camaro to a more responsible officer and drive a beat up Crown Vic.

ka50,
Apparently you're letting your mouth run off before your brain can call it back: the perps in that shootout were wearing armor on their legs. The responding officers shot at their legs, to NO EFFECT. Armor can be used to cover legs, kevlar is flexible. But what do I know, I'm just a Military Police member (Security Forces in the AF) and know nothing about law enforcement, tactics, training, warfare and equipment.
Another point where you're wrong is the amount of time it takes SWAT to mobilize. The first responding officer (or in the case of DV, the officer to make contact with an offender) doesn't have the luxury of time to wait for SWAT. He can, however retrograde to the cover of his vehicle and retrieve the necessary tools to survive. You think the bad guys are gonna let him call a "time out"?
A Law Enforcement officer gets discounts on weapons, and a patrol shotgun costs more like $500, not $1500. An M4-style rifle is more in the range of $1500-2000. Don't assume the department pays for these tools, the officer often pays for his own equipment out of pocket! I know this because around where I live (Denver) the officers who are IMT's also work civilian LE.
Officer response can take a long time for backup. I'm sure in DV's case, he works on a highway with no officer around for miles. A shooting can happen in 1.5-3 seconds. Think they can get there fast enough?
Please get your facts straight before mouthing off. At least give DV the benefit of the doubt and keep the subject on his driving, not the lifesaving tools he works with everyday.Check out my stable of supercharged W-Bodies HERE
\'97 Pontiac GP GTP Coupe
\'98 Regal GS | L67 3800 Series II

L32, you have valid points.
I agree I might've went a little off track with weapons, but I really doubt that DV will have time to unpack all that gear within few seconds of a shootout. Before he can unlock and safely remove his M4A1, the gun battle is gonna be over. Plus the mounting position will not allow him to retreive the weapon without exposing himself to a line of fire.
Also, the kevlar issue: yes you can put plates on legs and arms, but again, it's far from foolproof. Plus, how often do you meet smart criminals like that are wraped in kevlar with assault rifles? Not quite often, I believe.

ka,
Mounting systems can be quick... IF you train on them, and the cover should be enough in most situations to allow him to get it. Not all situations will be the same, like you point out, but it's there if he needs it and can get to it. I'd rather have it and not need it than vice-versa, you know? Handgun ammo can disappear quick, and I couldn't imagine going after someone with a 40 oz club in a gunfight!
Sorry for coming off like a jerk, but I think officers should be allowed to defend themselves with whatever they can get their hands on (as long as they're properly trained and not a risk to the general populace), okay, maybe not grenade or RPGs.... :DCheck out my stable of supercharged W-Bodies HERE
\'97 Pontiac GP GTP Coupe
\'98 Regal GS | L67 3800 Series II

i jumped a curb to get through to a major accident. retard on a sportbike rode a wheelie right into a gaurdrail.
i jumped a ditch trying to assist another officer who had an armed robbery suspect at gunpoint.
the debris on the side of the highway, where i often spend my time, is murder on tires.
if the bad guys have rifles, don't you think cops should too?
ka50, it was nice knowing you, but i think your days here are numbered.

First you act like a 5 year old, then you erase the message, then you come back trying to act all rational. Ok, let's assume it was just a burst of anger, I'll give you a benefit of a doubt.
Why don't I like you, you may ask? Well, maybe because you come off like a cocky as*shole because you got a gun, badge and perfomance coupe paid for by taxpayers, which you call hoe and feel free to beat up as you wish and then brag about 30 repairs and countless sets of tires wasted. Yes, I don't like you and if I see you I'll tell it to your face everything I think about you just as swiftly as I do it on the message board. And take away your Camaro.

I'm not really looking for respect. I'm looking to give you 3-rd party perspective on what you do. Apparently you're having hard time accepting critisizm.
And make no mistake, I'd say the same thing I said on this board to your face. Ask people that know me well... I've gotten fired from numerous jobs for speaking up my mind. And I ain't changing my ways anytime soon. :D
