• Crappy FM Modulators

I bought my g/f a nice Belkin FM modulator for her Ipod. I had no choice because the Alpine in her Jeep has no auxilary inputs. So I know how FM modulators drop the quality of the music and do not compare to a CD or MP3. But I listen to the stereo, and to me, the stations still sound really good. So I figure, hell, if im listening to stations that sound excellent 30 miles from the station, then the FM modulator has to at least sound a little better then that. WRONG. Its worse then FM stations. It almost sounds like AM. How is that possible?

Anyone else with FM modulators that experience the same thing? I thought I bought a nice one too. It wasn't cheap...

Yeah, I had one a long time ago. I didn't like the sound quality either. Sounded somewhere between AM and FM. I returned mine.
Yes, I know \"Artic\" should be spelled \"Arctic\". Can any of the mods change this?

But seriously, Belkin is crap. Try an iTrip.

i was skeptical about the iTrip, i figured they were all crap. i tried belkin, sony, and GE. none worked well in my area. my friend tried iTrip and said it worked great. i dont know if it really worked great or if he was just trying to prove me wrong

Are you serious? The Belkin is crap? Sonava*****! I thought it was nice, because it had 4 presets, it mounts and powers the I-Pod and it was just a nicer setup then the others. Oh well, she likes it, she can't hear the diff, but im picky as hell when it comes to sound quality.

Unless the I-trip sends out a cleaner stronger signal, I can't see how it would do any better? That website describes exactly what I bought her just about. Is the I-trip at least radio station quality?

Look for a hardwired Fm modulator. The kind that hooks into the antenna wire.
