Im deffetnially looking at the a70 and a75, ive seen some good deals on those on ebay.

Look for one of those sites that automatically compares prices for you.


I forgot the one I went on, but its like pricewatch but for electronics. I went on it and typed in "Canon A70" and it came up with like 150 places that sold it online, and you can sort by price, and there are reviews from the websites so you are not buying from a joe schmo.

I ended up getting mine off a site called 42secondstreetphoto or somehting like that. Got a a decent deal, like I said I got mine for $260 shipped and best buy sold the exact model no difference for ~$340.

I paid out the rear for my camera a year or so ago, but I found a great deal for the one for my parents...hp m305...3.2MP, 3x optical zoom, extra crap...it cost $109 with a $30 rebate. Not too shabby, but I got like almost the last one.

Check out the Kodak..

4.0 MPixels, video w/audio, everything you could want, even has burst picture mode, so it take a series of pictures really fast, it does black and white. It prints photo quality.

One thing to compare, and I did, side by side with all other cameras that were under $250, is how long it takes from the time you snap a picture, until the time you are ready to snap another. The Kodak smoked the competition here.

Use pricegrabber and look up Fujifilm FinePix cameras, I know the A340 here and the E500 here are within your range and do a great job. I'm personally looking at this one here for $217+ S&H ($13).

I've never really been satisfied with the quality of most digital cameras (looks ok at first pass, but becomes really pixilated when you zoom in for manipulation), and the photo paper isn't as good as a 35mm prints. BUT after scrimping together money from the holidays, selling a limb and piling in my own cash I got a camera I like:

I can swap out lenses from my Canon SLR, the RAW format look crisp when magnified 600x in photoshop (damn well should, the photos are like 15MB each).

The Minolta Z series is the best deal you can get currently. Since the Z3 fixed the major flaws with the Z2, you can't go wrong and it's incredibly inexpensive compared to other high-end non SLRs for the functions you get (12x zoom, image stabilization, etc).
