This is a good thread to see. For all you noobs out there, here's a little site history for ya. ;)

The Beginning - started the site with Stefan. :D
Damn right! The name www.firebirdv6.com was first registered by me on October 31, 2000. Robert and I originally founded FirebirdV6.com as an online reference library for tech info. It began with the Tech Database (Robert's creation) and the Modifications Encyclopedia (my baby) that both went live in November of 2000. I created the Timeslips Page, Robert kept uploading more and more info to the tech pages, and eventually it became too much for just the two of us to handle. We were over at www.camaroz28.com (where I moderated the V6 Tech forum) referencing pages on www.firebirdv6.com over and over again for almost six months before we finally bit the bullet and founded our own message board. Originally we didn't even want to have a message board because we did not want to compete with cz28. It was inevitable though, and eventually happened in May of 2001.

Mike, you don't give yourself enough credit. Behind Robert and myself, you were number one. Don't ya miss those days when no one knew the site existed, I was still configuring the demo version of the board software, and we were all chomping at the bit saying "when can we tell everyone else about this, the next big thing?" We all knew it would explode once word got around. :D

Yep, and I probably still owe you a beer for that! We had eight insiders who were involved with testing the demo version of the software (which I first installed on May 1, 2001, when I registered myself) before Robert, Bill Spano, and myself pitched in to pay for the license and go gold. Once that happened and testing was complete (May 18, 2001), I made my post over on cz28 and Seppo was NUMBER ONE to join. ;) You da man!

The message board caused the site's popularity to skyrocket to levels undreamt of mere days before... and we quickly realized the low-cost server that I had set up wouldn't last long. We needed a pro, we needed someone to take care of the systems aspect and keep us all online without having cron jobs shut the site down because of excessive bandwidth. Shortly after launch, Robert and I recruited Steve as admin number three to take care of the message board. The site was divided into two portions: www.firebirdv6.com on my server to host the tech files and static data, www.camarov6.com on Steve's server to host the message board. It was an arrangement that worked beautifully. Though Robert and I created the initial content, without Steve what we had built would only have been an online technical manual; no more interesting than a V6-specific online e-book published by GM. Thanks to Steve we have an actual community--so, so much more than just a listing of go-fast parts and technical specifications. That's a table that wouldn't be able to stand without all three legs attached.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Old school is the way to be, I have been here a while. Good to see the older members voting instead of some newbies asking how to vote lol. This is probally my favorite message board, I have learned a lot here and I hope I taught some people a few things, Or at least you got to hear my cam!<<< Right James?

I had to re-register recently due to a lost password/changed e-mail.

I first found the site when it had "Under Construction" all over it and there was no board. I checked back regularly, reading up on the tech info that was here, and I guess I found the board within a few weeks of it's launch.
