  • Looking for a truck

Well, since the wife just got a job that requires her to travel, we need to look into getting a second car for me.

I'm thinking about getting a truck. Not gonna be towing or hauling anything major around.

It needs to be an extended cab for the little one, and my limit is around 15k. I know to stay away from Dodge. Any suggestions?

I'll see if I can get more pics...

    2002 Dodge ram 4.7L v8 auto 2wd
    4 door
with topper, rear is completely built in an upholstered with storage compartments but you can still fit in sheets of plywood I believe. Have to take exact measurements. I used this truck to move.

58,000 miles. Lots of highway miles, I think from mid '04 till now its only gotten like 5k miles on it. My brother used to drive it from Boston to Ft. lauderdale.

    I just changed the...
    -tranny fluid
    -power steering fluid
    -New batter
    -flushed motor and oil
    -diff fluid
    -air filter

Looking to do plugs and wires when I feel better, and a belt(already have it).

I have more pics I can get for you if you are remotely interested.

Its my brothers, he is in school in europe, been there a year in europe, and is planning to finish up his school in Spain for like another 1.5 years.

So he is paying for a truck to sit in mine or my parents driveway.

I know you said no dodges... and it is a big mofo, but if its the size and stuff you are looking for, its a good deal.

I hear the Chevy S-10's with the Vortecs are fun to drive around and useful.
I've seen a nice black one around here for sale. Something about that trucks stance makes me want to test ride it one day.

I don't know the price, but my father just bought a '06 Honda Ridgeline.

EDIT: nevermind, they start at $27k

haha thats crazy, my dad has a 91 sierra truck with 189,000 hard driver miles.

This thing has towed so many things, its been over loaded and such and the engine still runs just fine.

when i drive it i drive it pretty hard, im actually quite surprised its lasted this long without a rebuild.

My uncle has a 90 S10 with 225,000 on the original engine as well.

i think the 88-98 trucks are very well built.

I have a 01 Tundra and you can get them for a pretty decent price used. I have only had mine for a year but its a great truck. Great ride and fun to drive. You can check out www.tundrasolutions.com if you want to look into it more.

word. i work for dodge...first vehicle i've ever owned that wasn't a chrysler product is my firebird..i've had more problems with it in the year and a half that i've owned it than any car chrysler dodge jeep vehicle i've owned combined..ohh wait..my cat did clog up on my 96 truck with 96,000 miles on it..98 bird with 87,000 on it...let's see..intake manifold leak, rear pinion seal leak..new alternator, transmission is about to explode...hose fittings on water pump disentagrading..rear main leaking like a siv onto the y-pipe..i could go on with piddly **** but who cares..Dodge Ram trucks are the #3 best selling vehicles in the world...they sell more dodge trucks now than toyota camrys or corollas..also chrysler/dodge isn't letting at least 26,000 employees go next year and hangin on the edge of bankruptcy "GM"..and for the first time ever "Ford's" stock has been given junk status..Dodge/Chrysler sucks so bad that it's the only one of the big 3 gaining in % of the vehicle market held..there..i'm done..lol..oh wait..Be American..Buy American...that's all i ask..

When the hell did this become a dodge message board

Two of my friends have owned dodge trucks, both of them have had major problems and the car became a money pit. Maybe their newer trucks are better, but seeing how I'm only going to be spending 15k, I'm not going to be getting a new truck.

And you want to hear about dodge quality, my moms van has less miles then my camaro did, and has 3xs as many problems. Transmission is dead, leaks about 2 qt of oil a month, power windows are dead, CV joints are shot, I could go on. Oh yea, my mom babies the hell out of the car, I reamed the hell out of my camaro and it atleast still ran fine.

The 02+ Dodge trucks with the new body style are much better. Daimler Chrysler has come a long way in the last 5 years. Even some of the 02's had the older engines & trannies, so look out, but 03+ You should be safe. The Dodges older than that can be money pits - don't ask me how I know.

You can't go wrong with the 88+ GM trucks. Good styling, powerful & effecient engines. The 99+ are even better.

You couldn't pay me to own any Ford truck. Between their trannies, weak motors and plain looks, I've never seen a Ford I like.

Look for a truck in a local paper or something, I'm sure you will be able to find a decent one for less than $15,000. And I wouldn't be two picky about whether its Dodge, GM, or whatever.

easy there turbo..not a dodge thread...you have 30 people saying stay away from a dodge...i know your not buying a new truck...but i'm gonna defend my livelihood...you mom got a lemon...somebody else bought one that has 200,000 thousand miles on it i'm sure..it sucks but it goes with buying anything from any manufacturer..also different plants make different quality..look where it's built if you buy one...example "speaking only of which i know not making a dodge thread" they build the same trucks i build in missouri in mexico as well...you're 3 or 4 times more likely to have warranty issues with a mexican built truck than one from missouri or michigan..like i said last time...buy american...there's more than one company here...
