    what does it mean?

any help would make me feel a lot less stupid and thats always much appreciated...

wow, i ran into this dilemma the other day when i heard that song. when i couldn't come up with anything else, i figured it might have meant 4-speed? i'm probably wrong, but hey that's my guess.

Three-on-a-tree(3 speed gear selector on colum), four-on-the-floor( 4-spd, shifting on the floor),,,,I got 5-on-the-floor. ;)

Brings back memories of old School songs:

      "She's real fine my 409,.,.my 4-spd, dual-quad, posi-traction 409,.,409,409,409,409.,."

      "3-dueces and a 4-spd, and a 389,.,.,."

The shifter is is located on the floor. Just like what you have in your car, rather than the colum, but a four speed.

              pic

check out the shifter... it's on the floor of the car. in our cars, they're raised up a bit. back then, they went right down to the floor like that.
