You got pulled over on the beltway didn't you? The speed limit there is techinically 55mph, but people (even cops) don't ever go below about 75-80mph.

Don't listen to those tools that say you were going too fast and being unsafe. They have never been in DC metropolitan traffic. You and I know how it really is. ;)
lol, I lived in VA. for 5 years. I have been up and down the Eastern seaboard and there is no reason to drive 101. Besides 101 is a far cry from 80. Don't encourage this guy, he gets into enough trouble on his own. He (historically) is an unsafe safe driver. Search this forum if you do not know what I am talking about (namely failure to maintain control of a vehicle comes to mind amongst others....). He needs to slow down..... </font>[/QUOTE]http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=malice

If you can get the judge to bring the charges down below 100mph (which shouldn't be that hard in your case), then you'll be in way better shape.

Sounds like what happened to me about four years ago. I was doing 82 in a 70 though, it was about 2am. I wasn't from that area, so I didn't know much, but the cop wrote me a ticket for 101 in a 55. It turned out to be like $240. It still makes me angry to this day, that the cop was so rude. He threatened to arrest me because I wanted to see the read-out from the radar. Can you take a safe driving course? I did, and it dropped the points that I would have had

101 is definitely way fast for on the highway, but Malice definitely has a good point. If you're driving under like 75mph on the highway you'll get run over in no time flat; 80-90 is pretty common speed in this area. People drive like maniacs out here, and those who say you've been here, obviously havent driven enough through 95/395/495 around DC. I've lived with it for 20 years, but still hate driving around there.

I'll bet you can get around it a little. Just be careful next time.

If you think the beltway is bad try I35. It was a thrilling drive today.

i can beat this, i got pulled over on the 417 doing 110 and i only got a $45 ticket. I was going past an on-ramp and the popo just happened to be the guy getting on (piss poor timing on my part). He instantly turned his lights on and a huge chill just went down my spine. i pulled over immediatly and here is where it got a little wierd. The cop comes up asks me how fast i was going and i said "like 90" he then asked for my drivers license and registration (whole standard thing and im thinking snit this is going to hurt my wallet). he then comes back and says "you dont even have any points on your license and i didnt clock you". now i start to get my hopes up. he then asks if im going to college and if im living out there. i said yes and yes. he then says i'm going to cite you for not changing your address on your license and recomend that you slow down. all i could do was blink and say thank you. i wanted to ask him if he wanted to go get some doughnuts (my treat) but i thought that might be a bad idea. I happily paid my fine the next day and went on a nice drive back to the apartment. the moral of the story... dont get pulled over but if you do, make sure he is a cool cop ;) .

I-35 in OKC is wild sometimes. I like screaming through the onramps at very high speeds. I can't wait till I move to florida. You florida guys always have some good street stories.

My cousins got paced in his vacy doing 115. When in reality the cavy wouldnt even do 115. Lawyer got em off mainly because he didnt get em on radar.

He then got pulled over again. This time 105 in a 55. He admits this one was right. Magistrate didnt ask his mother his age and lawyer cought on. Lawyer brings it up it gets thrown out of court.

Those are stories which i have learned from. Theres always a chance someone will mess up in the court. Also hopefully the point wont stick in VA. VA is serious about speeding. One time unmarked car let me off doing 75 in a 55. Just told em i was trying to make it to Madison. Traffic was minimal. Was nice to em he said im leaving first u have a nice day. Cool cop. But then i get pulled over by a off duty cop in school parkin lot for "speeding". He was off duty not in uniform. All he heard was my cousins loud *** exhaust and felt like harassing us. He was a royal *** hole about it. He let us go but warned all on duty cops about red tiburon with illegal exhaust. Got followed home by a cop but to bad my cousins banged his silencer in...

I've been followed by a couple cops.. I was cruising around in my Z one day and I was going maybe 5 miles over the speed limit and he drive through the grass and gets behind me.. I keep going 5 over.. He followed me up to the High school, I turned right and he turned left.. I've gotten lucky.. I've done 110 in my Z and Bird before but I'll never do it again.. Kinda scared me..

in va, reckless driving. court appearance and a nice steep fine.

i believe va and md have reciprocity so this incident will appear on your driving record.

After getting a lawyer, we plea-bargained it to improper driving - a 3 point violation and 100 fine.

Where did failure to control the vehicle come from? Once again, I think you're dreaming.
