  • Where are all the political discussions?

After months of heated debates and locked threads, no one has anything to discuss? Many very important issues and positions were determined last night and no one cares? I thought people would be sharing their thoughts and reactions, and opinions on the future of this country.

Many of those turned into pissing matches and to be honest I was tired of them. Maybe becuase the election is over they were deleted. Just a thought. Maybe Stefan will enlighten us.

I am sure the experts knew it was over and he just did the next bess thing.

FL is amazing, it was only a couple hundred vote difference last I heard on who won senate race.

As for deleteling political threads its happending at other sites as well, I figure just let the memebers get it out of their system.

I had a cool thread on another board about how Michael Moore had 1200 camera crews at voter polls in FL and Ohio, and possibly at even the place I voted at, and how I thought it was pretty rediculous and that we are going to see a movie for next summer, on how "voters got turned away" He will have 10-20 clips from 1200 locations, twist the facts and make it seem like someone cheated.

From what's been reported, the gap in Ohio is too large for Kerry to catch up. Bush also leads in Nevada, New Mexico, and by ~3.5 million in the pop. vote. Much closer elections were conceded early then this one. I think Kerry made the right decision, not only for himself but for the whole nation. It's time for the focus to switch back to the challenges facing our country.

I guess Ohio and Nevada have been called now. Bush has 274 electoral votes, and looks like he will end up with 286(Iowa and New Mexico).

I am pissed the **** off. I cannot beleive that after all of George Bush's bull**** people still voted fore him. 3.5 million votes away from a rebuilt and prosperous America. Now four more years of 2 dollar gas, more billions is a ****hole country and horrible economy. I can't believe this. I just said that earlier, but goddamn, what does he have to do? Make wages lower spend more billions of **** we do not need? 3.5 million college losers could ahve easily made the difference. 3.5 million minorities could ahve made the difference, instead of *****ing about how it "doesn't make a difference". Being a black man, I wanted every person of color to get off their ***, at least this once and make change. I guess in a sick way I am more pissed at them than I am at G Bush winning another 4 years of shaddy politics and blantent lying. I just have to thank all the trailer park, country hillbilly, bum**** USA citizens who have no idea what they have just done.

I voted for Kerry myself. Im tired of the 2.00 dollar a gallon gas. When I first turned 16 I remember gas was only like a 1.40 at some places and that was only 2 years ago and now its at close to 2.10 in places. We havent seen that fast rate of change in gas prices ever as far as I know. In 2 years it went up that much. Now I dont know if anyone has seen this kind of coincedence before but isnt that kind of disturbing that it really didnt do that till Bush was elected into office. Ive heard somewhere before but im not totally sure of it, that Bush's whole family made their money off the oil trade. This to me sounds like it is most likely very possible with the way it is now. Which when looked at in that way makes it look like Bush is in office only for his personal gain. That is how I look at things, and im sure theyre flawed but there is alot of other things I look at when I look at him that I dont like. For example, sending our troops into Iraq. Ok I know that ever since 9/11 there has been great concerns over terrorism in th U.S but did we really need to go overseas into the "suspected" country of origin in order to fight terrorism here in the U.S.? This is one question I ask but I dunno and quite frankely I dont care because there isnt really anything I can do about it, I just live with it and just barely get by as that rich idiot sits in office with his pockets getting filled up by the minute. All I can see when I look at him overall is that he is mearly doing what is father wasnt able to accomplish when he was in office but as I said earlier, that is just how I look at it.

Thank you for your awe-inspiring post, you really shed light on a lot of the issues. It's amazing that an american would get so upset over people discussing the essential aspect to the American way of life, our RIGHT to elect our officials. This was a historical presidential election, George W. Bush recieved more popular votes than any other condidate in the history of the U.S., and was the first to recieve more than 50% of the vote since 1988. This was a great step for this country, not only for US citizens, but for the world. So, if you dont mind, keep your ignorant and useless posts to yourself, because they have no place in this thread. Thanks

                        Two effects of the election.

Republicans have proposed that the debt ceiling be raised by $690 billion to $8.074 trillion, an amount that would get the government through next September, when the 2005 budget year ends.

                        And this:

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Oil prices surged more than $1 on Wednesday as the re-election of President Bush countered the impact of a big increase in spare oil supplies ahead of winter.

Crude dealers said Bush's victory over Democrat Senator John Kerry could bolster U.S. fuel demand and underscore anxiety over the security of Middle East oil shipments.

U.S. light crude settled up $1.26 to $50.88 a barrel, climbing back over the psychological $50 mark after settling below it for the first time in a month on Election Day. Brent crude was up $1.01 to $47.56.

The great thing is this. Now that the Republicans control both the Senate and the House, as well as the President, they can no longer blame Clinton for anything that happens over the next four years.

                            2008?!?! why wait that long.

I'll be working to make a difference in some way for the very next election. LA Mayor's race this summer, Off years somewhere in 2005, mid terms 2006!!

Now that the GOP has a "mandate" they have to not **** up anymore. They used to be able to blame things on partisan bickering and stuff - now the ball is in their court and they have to play it flawlessly or the American public will blame congress (they always do).

Look for Dems to step back some and not challenge things but vote party lines just to make a statement. Look also for a LOT of Dem sponsered, high profile legislation - I think we will strategize well when we arent bickering over one seat - when we have real work to do.

                            Time will tell

I feel like I'm in good hands. Of course, I've held a rifle a stood a post so that makes me biased. I'm also of the mindset that money isn't everything and that you can't put a price on helping someone else. Michael Moore would have you believe otherwise, but I can't understand why some people let others do their thinking for them. I do not like John Kerry for several reasons, but willfully admit that I'm happy that he conceded and glad that he did it with the grace that he did. It's the first respectable thing that man has done (in my opinion), and helps me to reform my opinions of him for the better.

The house & senate getting a republican majority was an added bonus. I was also glad to see that Daschle (sp?) was replaced. It will be very interesting to see the progress that is made in the next 4 years, and who gets the nomination for next terms vote. I think Hillary is a given... (unfortunately)

One other thing: for those of you that are so worried about money - did any of you bother to notice the nice leap the markets took the next day after the election was decided? Apparently someone has faith (about 3.5 million over half the population) in the ability of George Bush to do the good he is doing.
