boo, dwight yoakam is the best country artist out there right now.

you've also got old hank, merle haggard... i would say to stick with the older and more traditional guys. pop country (the stuff that's coming out now) is worse than normal pop.

      1. "Drop Kick Me, Jesus [Through the Goalposts of Life]" - I don't know the artist.

      2. And some lyrics from the ultimate country song by David Allan Coe ("You Never Even Call Me by My Name") - it includes many of the vital country themes all in a very short sequence:

"I was drunk the day my mama got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in the pickup truck
She got ran over by a damned old train.

So I'll hang around as long as you will let me
And I never minded standin' in the rain
You don't have to call me darlin' darlin'
      You never even call me....
Well I wonder why you don't call me...
Why don't you ever call me by my name"
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Flowbee was right though, whiskey lullaby is a good song.
If you turn on CMT you'll hear alot of good songs. be careful though, dont watch it too much... they play the same things over and over worse than MTV did back in the day and about as bad as MTVs TRL does now :/
too bad its hard to find country songs on the net, I've already tried. if you get some we need to get on aim or figure something out

Amen to that. Forget the Stones, forget Zepp...The Doors will forever be the greatest band the world has ever seen. Jim Morrison was just one of the many great talents who died before their time, like John Belushi....

And definitely forget country music.....it pisses me off more than anything to hear these parents and politicians rant and rave about rock and rap music that supposedly promotes violence and drug use when country music is about nothing except getting drunk, which promotes alcoholism.
