• new car?

Alright guys its been 3 years to the month that ive owned my bird. iver put a lot of time, sweat, blood, and ofcourse money into it. the headgasket just went and is getting fixed as i type. i had more problems with this car then my parents have with any of their cars. so im going to sell it and get a newer car. and im sad to say its not going to be an F-body. i love them and ive looked but i cant find exactly what i want (1998+ camaro dark blue with t-tops and manual with less then 30k miles for under $18k) so im broadening my horizons. at first i looked at Rx-8s but read horrible things about gas mileage(ave 12 mpg) and that it eats oil like no other. so then i looked at WRX, not my style of car honestly. the honda S2000 is out of my price range (looking to spend about 16k-18k) with teh miles i want. so i test drove a toyota MR2 Spyder. its got everything i want. i dont need more then 2 seats, its got a manual, convertable i like the styling esp interior. its pretty quick i dont need anything too fast i got pulled over enough with my firebird. so my question is what have u heard about them? facts about how long they last engine quality and what u think about them in general. i know its not an f-body but i wanna try something new. thanks for the feedback

All I know is that they don't make them anymore, so it might be tough for replacement parts in the future.
Other than that... it's toyota, so it won't treat you wrong.

i believe 2005 is the last year for the mr2 spyder. I know its the last year for the celica. so if you want a sporty toyota this would be the year to buy one. I think the spyder looks great. The starting price for a new one is 25,000, not bad for such a sporty car! its has the mid-mounted 1.8L 16 valve VVT-i engine good for 138hp and 125 lb ft torque. This is the same engine that is in the Celica GTS, Scion T/C, Pontiac Vibe GT. So if you need a replacment part for your engine i'm sure you can find one. I belive Toyota Racing Development (TRD) makes a supercharger for that engine.
It comes in 2 tranny options 5 sp manual or the 6sp sequential manual with the shift buttons on the steering wheel.
I think its a nice car, but its your $. Buy what you're comfortable with.

I like the MR2 before that. Those things are quick, esp. with the turbo. And reliability is excellent.

Celica GT-S has a 180hp 1.8L engine, the Scion T/C is a 160hp 2.4L engine, and the Pontiac Vibe has a 170hp engine... where the hell did you get your information from? LOL
They share nothing but displacement, except the scion
