    Autozone

And its not letting someone else "diagnose my problems"

Its instead of buying a $100+ scanner, and storing it with the rest of my tools in my apartment, and only use it twice in 1.5 years. I store it down the street at either autozone or the 600 million advanced autos.

My scanner, his scanner, they still give me a code, don't really have to be an expert to interperet a code.

My 94 3.4L, never found a scanner that worked on it. I tracked down every problem the old fashion way and was actually pretty decent with it. This board helped alot on that.

C'MON!...are you really that shallow! Its not about being able to visually "see" a code. Its about using your head and figuring out why you are getting that code!

Of course, around here they just tell you the code then go back inside. If you listen to the dude at autozone your an idiot. I have done and do all my own work except for tranny/clutch stuff, mainly because of time constraints, and living in an apartment.

Only advice I ever took from a dude form autozone was where I coudl get lightweight bondo that they didn't carry.

All this talk about scanners, it makes my head spin. Which one is the best overall for my 1996 Series II 3.8 M5? I had 1 code disappear on me after changing octane levels but thats another forum lol. I would appreciate a recommendation and moneys no object but keep it under $300 for starters. I would also like to make or adjust the changes if necessary once an SES light comes back. I can get a laptop readily available if the need comes. Thanks a lot!
