The Wall Street Jouranl ran an op-ed piece today about the right Texas has - at any time - to split into five states. This is one one my favorite bits of American arcania.
The point of the op-ed piece was: Hey shazam! - What a great way to increase the Republican control of the Senate! Nobody is really going to try to do it, but still, it would be very interesting.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

I'm sure that obscure law passed in the mid 19th century will fly today. That's right up there with their "right" to secede from the Union.
Texans need to get a grip, wake up, and realize this country and this planet does not revolve around them. They also need to realize that the year is 2004, not 1864. "Remember the Alamo", eh? Remember that the Texans LOST.
