JC... relax. Why does everyone have to use "wtf" all the time? is this just a board to swear and show age here???

As for your question 916. If you are on OS X and using Safari, it has built in pop up blocker. It's under the Safari menu. If you are still on 9 (yes.. some still are) then it's time to upgrade

              We all stand corrected....

"Shortly after upgrading my Macs to OS X 10.3.8, I noticed that I was getting pop-up ads on Safari. It had been so long since I'd seen a pop-up, I completely forgotten how annoying they can be. I went over to Apple's Support site to see if there was a relationship, but learned that the timing is just a coincidence (even though there's a lot of the usual FUD and flailing of arms in the discussion forums). In fact, it turns out that the pop-up advertisers (what's the proper denigrating term here?) have finally defeated the pop-up blocking functionality found in many browsers. MacFixIt is running a front page article on the topic and says 'Contrary to initial reports, this problem isn't limited to Safari; subsequent reports have noted pop-under ads victimizing a number of browsers that provide pop-up-blocking features, including the latest versions of Safari, FireFox, Mozilla, OmniWeb, and Camino.'"

I know when I get complaints of pop ups from people, its normally toolbars. sometimes software that you download for free has crap bundled with it. if you have a program like adawre (I swear by that prog, nothing I've seen surpasses it!!) it'll get rid of alot of crap.

also IE have an option to turn off third party extensions so even if you have a toolbar it wont load it. Opera does too, but its called something a little different, I can only assume other browsers would as well. believe it or not but the good toolbar is notorius for causing problems with ie, such as crashing right after you open it.

I used to be an Opera fanatic ( I ran 6.05 for ages) until Firefox was released. The only thing that I like better about Opera is the fact that you can open pop ups in the background.

I use FF, and I've been seeing more and more pop-ups.
