I think about $210 from fed/$100 from state. Maybe I'll save it and get catback or a stereo this summer.

Get this, my pay checks don't have taxes taken out. So I have to pay them at tax season. I figured up I'd owe $6400, by just counting gross income, deducting writeoffs, then taking 28%. Very basic in head calculation. For 5 months last year i worked a regular job where taxes were taken out so it helped.

H&R Block - very nice lady went over all my expences. And the biggest thing that helped me is I filed as a buisness not an individual, since I fall under self employeed. She informed me of alot of stuff I didn't even know I could write off.

I always thought tax preparers were just making money off lazy people not wanting to do their own taxes. This lady knew all sorts of tax stuff. She ended up getting me a refund of feds-$520 state-$129

Needless to say they will be doing my taxes from now on.

That's awesome. So how much do they take out? Or do they just do it for a flat fee? I always thought the same thing.

Do you people just set yourself up on purpose by deducting more or are you just special to the gov't? I guess I'm pretty close on my deduction %age, because I'm not getting near as much as some people are. :(

Uh... if you make 55k your return doesn't exactly go up...

55k - take home 43k (401k and state/federal/healthcare) got ~680 fed and 70 state. I cross over that 65k line and I'll be paying soon...

I had to PAY them 43 dollars. No refund for me. I play around with the stock market and made quite a few extra dollars this year doing so, but uncle sam got me...but not that bad. 43 dollars will probably be a fill up in gas soon anyway.
