z28 black top

i have been looking at some z28's and some have black tops and some dont, my friend thought they all do, but they dont. was it just an option, or is there some special condition that merits the black or color matched top?

Now its an option there are black topped z28s WITHOUT t-tops.... A local guy has a '02 SOM one and a friend of mine used to have a '98 red one(he sold it and got a all black '01)


I believe there are body colored t-top cars as well, not sure on z28s, but definitely on formulas.

i think the t-tops get the body color, not the black, because my friend's has a black top without t-tops (94) and i'm looking at a 95 that has t-tops and it is a body colored top

They definitely come with black top and t-tops as well...


as far as I know black top is just an option... like a "two tone" thing. On all cars, hardtop or t-top. Or it can not be on a car hard top or t-top.

yeah.. it was an option..forget what year it became that way, but i believe all 4th gens for at least the first year or two had the black roof's with certain options. eventually they opened it up to allow the roof to have the same color as the rest of the body.

ive never seen a black top fb/ta other than black ones, or the 02 collectors yellow one.

correct me if im wrong but i dont think black top was an option for pontiacs.

I cant remember the exact year, but I think the 93 to 94or95 all had black hardtops. I cant remember where I read that though. Maybe not all of them, but yeah, its something like that.

maybe it was just the z-28s, look at google though, it shows every z-28 being black topped in the year of 1994. at least the ones I saw on a few pages

You are correct. They didn't do it on pontiacs from the factory other than the two exceptions you mentioned.

i believe that 1998-2000 had black tops but not 2001-2002

I was told 99 was the last year (by a 99 camaro owner) also the mirrors were black too.
