    2) Just cuz your uncle is a mechanic doesn't make him an expert on every car out there. I've known ****load of mechanics just like your uncle **** on american cars. Well, so far I don't have many complaints with american cars and we've had plenty of them.
1 - I said "a lot" of the magazines, not "all". Thank you for taking what I said WAY out of context by applying it to the national enquirer. For some strange reason I had thought we were talking about automobile magazines...

2 - Learn how to read. MY DAD is a mechanic, not my UNCLE. And he doesn't know a sh*tload about every car, he doesn't work on like BMW or Mercedes a lot, but every domestic car, honda, toyota, and their sibling companies HE DOES know about.
He's been fixing them FOR 30 F*CKING YEARS!

And he doesn't sh*t on American cars... both of his children are driving GM as well as his wife. He isn't happy with their customer service lately, but does like the cars. He also will not knock you for driving a Honda or whatnot because they have their purpose too.

GM muscle cars last about 100k miles on average... some go farther, some less...

Probably not a good idea to buy one that is getting close to 100k miles that will put you in debt :(

it's not the car, it's how it was driven. the LS1 motor is good for 250,000 miles because of the tighter tolerances. the V6 is a pretty proven motor, otherwise GM wouldn't be sticking it in every car they make.

most LS1s are/were owned by young males, which equates to poor driving and bad maintenance. my personal car has been in the shop a few times, but otherwise, nothing that's been a real headache. my car at work is a different story, but i drive the dog out of it. i can make it sound good or bad depending on how i tell it.

the whole point is do you really need it? do you mind spending the extra money for 93 octane? what about the higher insurance? more routine maintenance costs with 2 extra cylinders? it's not the price of the car, but the overall cost that's going to get you.

i drive both and i revert from one to the other daily. honestly, most of your driving is going to be day to day traffic. do you really think you need to spend the money on a car that you can't actually take full advantage of anyway? i've never jumped in an LS1 and then go back in my car and start griping about it. it's plenty fast for a 65 mph highway.

now if i had to use a V6 at work, i'd be pissed, but i'm using it for a whole different reason.
