I dont think vendors should leave but at the same time I agree in that they're not going to support this board as much when they hae the guys who have themoney to blow 10k on one shopping list...not the norm of people here who have to save up (like I had to do) to buy a CAI or an exhaust system.

          Re: Supporting Members

I KNOW that we shouldnt implement any system that restricta ANY privelages that were available BEFORE the switch to vB. This includes custom avitars. Also, if we decide to pm's they should be available to everyone, not just people who donate.

Now, maybe there is something else we can offer if someone is willing to make a one time donation/payment. Maybe the ability to put images in the sig or something of that sort. Of course, this may or may not bring in much, and may or may not be worth the hassle. We'd still need the banners.

Also, i LOVE the idea of T-shirts.

Given the prices posted above, i dont think anyone would pay any of these. Like someone said, were a bunch of poor college kids, thats why most of us got the v6. Keep the site free.

Now.. merchandise is 1. a pita 2. requires money upfront/storage/shipping.. I've done that.. dont' work very well. I sit on stuff while it goes bad and I'm out money.

I'm still open to ideas, but let's think about this in a better sense.

            The internet is NOT free.

There is no V6 market right now for sponsors.

              Re: Supporting Members

Im definatly all for nonmandatory donations.
Now when you guys talk about banners, your just talking about the advertisments at the tops of pages? I dont think that is so bad and would love to see them if it helps the board. Maybe an insentive to donate could be image and video hosting but i dont want everyone and their grandma to have images in their signs just cause they caugh up a few bucks or more.

I own a screen printing company. Talk to me, I'm sure we can work something out when it comes to tshirts. I'm positive we can work something out where you wouldn't have an inventory or have to send stuff out. Hit me up on AIM, or write me an email... or if you want, we can talk over the phone.

clarify this, are we even considering manditory payment for memberships?

you and I both know that if theres a monthly, yearly, or possibly even one time charge, well loose at least 50% of our memberships, if not much more, and definitely a lot of new members. its not free to own a site, but for most sites of this nature, its free to belong. of course i (and most people involved in this discussion) have no idea of the financial specifics for this particular site, therefore i cant give you much more advice.

btw, what happened to thunderracing? they were still a sponsor as of december correct?

i still like the idea of some sort of non-manditory donations/support.

haha, and according to the internet itself, the internet is free:

I dont think it should be mandatory or required, however if there was some sort of paypal link or something I'd throw in some money. We all talk about how great this site is... why not take more action in keeping it top notch?

yeah the idea of making people pay wouldnt go over good.... i like the idea of like rewarding people with different things but yeah if ya set up an account or something where people could make donations towards the site that would be even better i think... people wouldnt feel obligated or forced to do it but they would still have the option if they wanted to... ya know?? i dont really know either way.... so yeah whatever man..

I probably wouldn't mind donating a few bucks, however I don't like the idea of paying for sigs, paying for avatars, and so on. Especially after all of those came free. I know the intraweb isn't free, but lots and lots and lots of forums don't make members pay for avatars, sigs, and the like.
