I'm really amazed that many of you think that everything should be free. Just because it's here, does not mean it's just here for your taking. It also does not mean things don't change as things continue into the future. A want and a need are different. We NEED to pay for the server, we NEED to pay for the software we put into this site. You WANT sigs, you WANT avatars.

I was asking suggestions... what would be a happy middle ground... cause in all honestly.. I can say screw it and close the site if I really wanted to. That is not what I want. I LIKE to give the V6 F-body community the best place to come to.

I, for one, have NO problem donating a few bones to keep this site rolling, or to become a "Supporting Member".

        However, I wouldn't pay for a subscription.

you really thing 5$ one time is going to help? or at least keep the board running.....like 50$ a year is what most places are doing....I know some places that general discussion is free, but you must sign up and pay to see the loads of tech articles...which also wouldnt be a bad idea.

That's a reflection of where society is heading. SIncew it's always been free before, it should forever be free. So what if someone else is flipping the bill, as long as I don't have to pay........

I think I remember the paypal thing being thought about a few yrs ago, or was it last yr? I dunno, but there was some concern on those who did donate getting "special treatment" over those who didn't. Well, maybe sig pics, custom avatars would be a nice "thankyou for donating and helping the board continue being the BEST V6 board"

AS far as a shpzone, I know a few boards that do use www.cafepress.com for items, and have bought from them.

Ok, here is an idea. Not manditory, but to throw in some fun. You donate a certain amount each year for example we will say 50 bucks.(if you choose) and you get a vynil for you car, and the money will go towards like a track day, dyno day or something, to help get group discounts, etc. It could help to make this board more than just a car forum, think more of an actual club. I know it sounds complicated, and it could be depending on how far it goes. Just an idea.

Skapimp- I still need to email you... let me get through a few days before we open that can o' worms.

Subscription is just a word for "continued Supporting Membership". In other words, it would be a similar set up to CZ28 with avatars, PMs, sigs and tag line stating YOU support us. I personally would rather the member step up and make this board work without sponsors or banners... I'd love that! It would so me and the rest of the F-body community that it's not needed to keep what you want the way you want it. The motorcycle forum that I'm on has no banners, no real limits, no nothing... but there are guys that drop 100.00 a year to the admin.. just because. Many of us over there HAVE meet the admin (ron).

I opened this jumped into this thread to get a feel for what YOU members thought, wanted, would do to keep this ad free, etc.

I dont think we should have the money go to something like a track day for 2 reasons. 1. we are a world wide board, most would not be able to go and i would pissed if my money went to pizza or whatever for 2% of the members. 2. whats the point of giving money to support the board and helping Steve if he has to spend it on get togethers. I think we should have supporting members and subscritions with the incentive of all the little extras. i think we would get more money out of the members if they got to choice of paying. mandatory would kill this board straight up. also, Im annoyed by everyone complaining about having to pay for stuff we had free prior. If you dont like it, there are a lot of other v8 boards who have just a wonderful v6 section. good luck getting quality help

I'm just suggesting things to make it more a personal level. Something tangible that people can appreciate. As far as other v8 boards there are a few other v6 boards that are grea too. Like I said it was just an idea.

very true blldogg./\/\ nothing against cz28.com but when it comes down to getting help with a v6 the typical answer would be "hahaha you should have bought the v8" i check over there for my v8 info and check out the v6 forum there and try to direct them our way.

id definately throw some money in to help the board. Hell this is almost like a E-home for me so a few bucks isnt that big of a deal.

heck ill send a money either way to help out wether or not this happens or not just to help robert and steve out. its not like its 100000000000000 dollars. everyone pitch in and this isnt even an issue.

                                Re: Supporting Members

Exactly, let’s think about this. I don’t know how much all this is costing you Steve but lets say we have 300 active members who come here like every time they get on the internet and actually care about the little community we have and this isn’t just some place to come ask "what’s wrong with my car?” if all 300 of us pay like 20 bucks per year, which is a little over 5cents per day, that’s 6000 dollars which would go to Steve to pay for this! I’m sure Steve would just kill over if he didn’t have to pay for this when god knows I never see him actually ask a question about a problem with his car. I think 20per year beats paying a shop a lot more money to diagnose a problem with your car. Now just think how many questions each of us have asked. I can tell you if you came into my shop and asked me a question, I would ask how much money you have but here, I help when ever I can, not to mention when I give you guys repair instructions and such off GM Service Information cause I'm pretty sure I’m breaking a copy right law.

If I seem a little angry its because I AM! I honestly believe if this board wasnt here because Of a money issue when I got my camaro at the age of 16, I may not have realized that I love cars and working on cars. I could have very well been stuck in a boring job so for that, I owe everything to you Steve, Stefan and Robert
