    I just threw P1870

defined as: P1870 Internal Transmission Component Slipping
This code is often set due to overheating inside the transmission. Extended periods of stop and go driving may also cause this code. Common symptoms associated with this code are harsh shifting from first to second gear and/or no overdrive or fourth gear. These symptoms are caused by an increase in transmission pressure in order to compensate for the internal slippage. Sometimes a complete transmission service including a fluid flush and refill can remedy this problem. In extreme cases, a transmission rebuild or replacement is required.

Is this a bad sign, i did notice a couple of hard shifts, and what kind of action is required as of now? what kind of price are we talking for a tranny rebuild

Re: threw my first code, am i doomed?

here, i made this thread couple weeks ago...i didn't threw the code, but after driving couple f-body for more than 3 years, i could tell i was gonna throw 1870.......do not drive your car with that code for long cuz you will smoke your transmission. I did messed up my previous camaro for driving with that for more than 9 months....check your trans fluid .if it smells burnt then get this Sh*t fixed( valve body update +sonnax kit) or else get ready for a new trans $$$$$$.....

      http://forum.camarov6.com/showthread.php?t=51890

one thing i should mention is that, i ended up update the valve body by reaming it out and putting a larger TCC solenoid in there cuz my mechanic told me he couldn't FIT the apply valve....i think he was lying. so, i still have that part (PN 77805E-K) sitting at my home...$15 shipped for you....if interested ..thanks

and how much did fixing it cost you in the end, assuming i dont need a rebuild, and would the dealer i bought it from be able to put in that apply valve, if that was what i needed, i seriously cannot think of any tranny shops around here, so i may be stuck going to a dealer, if they can do it

Mine has thrown the 1870 code a couple times a year since I got it back in 2001. I never had anything done to fix it. Usually I would just baby the car till the SES went off (another 80 miles), cleared the code, or the hard shifting would go away. If it came back, I'd just take it easy on her. After the code was gone, I'd drive normal again. I did run it down the track a few times with the 1870 set, and ran a tenth faster with the shift firmness up. And yeah, it can hurt the car, but mine still does allright. I've gotten 32MPG highway (within the last 6 months) and usually still get 27-28 highway when I'm feelin frisky. City is about 22.

i got a quote from a dealer close to me for $250, and the dealer i bought it from said they would give me a discount on parts and labor, but i am still awaiting a quote from them, the first dealer said he had better luck his way over the sonnax, i am asking the 2nd dealer what they think

we will see... and roger, it is your fault btw :)
