OK, i go back to the dealer i bought it from, they made me pay $40 to tell me exactly what i was telling them, and then they handed me a quote for about $800, they wanted to replace the entire valve body, gm part was like $5xx. then i go to a more local dealer, that doesnt stick to gm parts, they will fix the valve body and put in a "stiffer spring" he said that my torque converter will never slip again with it, and it will feel like another gear, i think he will stiffen up my tranny shifts a lot, fine by me, but they quoted $300 with a filter and fluid change, which wasnt in the $800 one, guess who i am scheduled with  dropping it off thursday morning and picking it up that afternoon :)

Re: tranny update
i consider the $300 pretty cheap considering all it is, is labor, a filter kit, and what he says is a spring. the gm part that the gay dealer wanted was $500 alone, the other dealer said they would get an aftermarket one for like $150. thats what happens when your dealer goes strictly by the service bulletins

Re: tranny update
one thing though, the spring thing might not fix it, the new vavle body will. I have had this discussion with many GM techs because mine does it and most of them will do the spring thing first at the request of the customer because of the cost issue but most have had comebacks cause it didnt fix the problem. if it doesnt fix it, I pray for you the dealer doesnt screw you and I hope they fix it right for you with a new vavle body in the end at their cost.Last edited by BLLDOGG; 04-12-2006, 04:58 PM.

Re: tranny update
they are pretty cool, i could get the whole valve body from them for like $150, but this tech is positive the spring will fix it because he puts in a stronger one, if it doesnt fix it i'm sure they would give me a huge break on labor next time

Re: tranny update
Im glad they seem cool but thats their job. i only say this to make you open your eyes even wider to bad people, in this situation or others. if it doesnt fix it, you shouldnt have to pay anything to have it fixed for good. also, if this doesnt fix it and they wont pay for it to be corrected, that technician isnt going to do the job for cheaper. just mentioning some things. make sure you have in writing that this spring upgrade will permanently fix the concern and check there policies about comebacks and get it in writing of some garuntee
