Re: Your backing out of a parking space...

Wrong. As stated earlier, depends on how far out you are when you are pulling out of your spot and how fast the person was going driving down the lane in the parking lot. It also depends on whether or not you hit them in the side or they hit you in the side. Theres too many factors. Parkinglots are different than roads ;)

Hell, even on the road if you get your car in your lane when you are turning out and get hit, its not your fault, you're vehicle was in the lane you wanted, even if you were going 2mph, its their fault ;)

I had this happen to me. I was backing out, and I was nearly 100% out. I got hit by a 'vette and the mark on my bumper was almost in the middle. I got cited. I tried to fight it, but cop said if I'm backing out, it's my fault, no matter the situation.

        FLEA THE SCENE!

go to another parking lot, call the cops, make a report that someone hit you while you were inside, and pay the deductible, thats if the damage is worth more than your deductible.

Best bet is to park in the last spot in the lot that is furthest away from where you need to be and walk. That way people just think your an idiot when they see you parked out there, but you'll get the last laugh when their *** gets hit, and you can drive by slowing mocking them

You didn't 'fight it' if you didn't go to court. You probably could have gotten the ticket overturned in court.

last time i checked it was the drivers fault that hit you, my logic tells me that if you get rear ended regardless it is their fault, and if they hit your back bumper then obviously you were out far enough that you are technically in the lane, thats just the way i think about it though, but i am always careful

Re: Your backing out of a parking space...

It seems to me that if you get in an accident then you get screwed over no matter WHAT happend!

On a slightly different note i have a question for you guys: ... well a story first:

So i was heading home today from work and as i was waiting at an intersection when this guy comes and knocks on my window. Now at first i thought it was some obnoxious bum.. but it was just this asian dude. He mumbled something in broken english about me hitting him (which i knew was bullsh*t cuz i was infront of him) and tells me to park in the Jack in the Box nearby.. so i do. When i parked i checked out my car... not a scratch on it, so clearly this guy is full of sh*t, right? But when he parks he explains the situation a little clearer. Apparently while changing lanes (legally i might add) on the highway a rock skipped up from my tires and cracked his windshield... and he now wants me to pay for it. Now i'm no insurance expert but isn't that what they'd call tough sh*t? I mean how can i possibly be responsible for that? Its an act of god, its not like i was doing burnouts in a gravel lot or something! ... in the end i gave him my information and drove off.

What i want to know is am i gonna have to pay for this? Has this happend to any of you?

why the freak did you give him your info? Can he even prove it was car that did it/wasn't cracked before? That's why HE has insurance. how much of your personal info did you give up? Now let's see if your insurance lawyers will pony up for you.

are you KIDDING me?! you kick up a rock and it cracked his windshild?! aint no way in hell thats your fault. if he has a problem, he can take it up with the state for not cleaning the road off. Thats a tough $hit situation for him. Life sucks, your car gets damaged when you drive it, thats how things work. I cant believe you actually gave him ur info. Watch out for a crazy stalker now. I hope you didnt give him ur address or w/e, cuz tehn you may wanna invest in a shotgun or a house alarm or both. and not to make u paranoid or whatever, but if you have someone's phone number, there a number of places online that you can do a reverse lookup and he can find you home address. a cell number and you're much safer cuz the only people that know your address is the wireless provider. Thats why i dont give out my home number to anyone i dont trust.

my friend's z28 shot rocks at my car on the highway (i was like 5-6 car links behind him). It broke my winshield bad. I think its because of the sport tire ratio where the wheels toe out or whatever like: / \ it makes rocks fly out bad. I didnt get his insurance info or nothing crazy like that.

Its not a law to have Mud Flaps. but it probably should.
