Just for grins I googled "autocross times civic". This was the very first relevant site I found:

Civics competed in three classes, H Stock, STS (Street Touring Sedan?) and Street Mod. They won them _all_, with times that were great compared to most everything else in any class.

They're quick little cars, especially with a few readily available mods. Better technical design than most anything in the class.

Your girldfriends car may be beat up. Go to a Honda dealer and test a 2006 Civic coupe. I'll bet you're impressed.

No prob Bob, I'll take your word for it. My g/f's car only has 28kmi on it. Seems to run like a champ, no bog, its just god awful slow and torqueless, but what do you expect from the teeny thing? My buddy has an '02 and I've borrowed his before and it was the same thing... I asked him how the hell he can manage to merge onto highways and hes like "Its dangerous..." haha. I can believe with minor mods you can bring it alive, but I won't be modding my commuter car ya know? The new 06's, they are probably a totaly different ball game. Even though, the interior kind of turns me off.

H Stock, pretty much, The other classes are modified. One of the charms of the Civic is the large number of mods available.
