Bye bye Bird, but now what do I get???

Im done with the bird. It's time for it to go. I put it out front with a for sale sign yesterday. I already had people looking at it, but I realized I have no freaking clue what I want to replace it with... Any ideas?

I've already got the goat, so I dont want to hear the V8 Fbody stuff, lol. I realize that leaves 90% of the board speechless as what else to get though... ;)

Im thinking something that gets the same gas mileage as the bird, possibly a little better. It has to be sporty, im not the sedan type of guy. I travel, ALOT for my job. I don't want to spend more than 15 g's for a commuter car.

The V6 birds around here are sparse, and people think they have gods gift or something, so they ask ridiculous prices for what they have.

I'll take any and all suggestions. I could use it to open up my mind a bit. I was thinking maybe an RSX, but I remembered the countless tranny problems. Anyone think the trannies are as bad as they seem, or just a small percentage of the production that pulls the most attention?

I had never heard that about the RSX trannies. My friends seems to still be running strong (M6). Look into the Scions, Civics, or Mazda 3s if you want something new.

rsx's look like pretty cool little cars... dunno about transmission problems... its a freakin honda so it should be pretty reliable... dunno how quick they are or if thats even a concern to you... just seems like itd be a fun little car... huge aftermarket if you lean that way too... haha

haha I know. Just trying to think of cars in that price range that arent corollas. What other criteria do you have? Miles? Age?

i bought a 2003 impala 3.4 and it had 60,000 miles on it. it get great gas mileage about 34 on the highway and 27 combined highway/city. and it was 8,000 dollars, not too bad at all.

just a idea for you to look at. it is quick for a 3.4 and quiet and smooth. dont know if that is what you are lookin for but an idea at least.

Honda /= reliable. All my friends with Hondas had tranny problems. They can't make a strong transmission to save their life.

My suggestions in the price you specified would be Matrix XRS, Civic SI, Cobalt, Scion TC.
