Find it and tell me what it is... and how cheap you want to get rid of it :D

I have a 4GB Mini.... but this is my 3rd ipod. My first one... a 10GB 2nd gen is still in use by a friend I sold it to. He just replaced the battery about 6 months ago and gave it to his sister and purchased my 3rd gen 40gb unit.

And yes... I have a mini for a reason... ever try to ride a moto with a 40GB 3rd gen :p

Really folks... this is not a pissing contest either. No need for the bashing and stuff... the choices were made to be funny.... if you didn't see that... might try to find that sense of humor you lost.

I have a Rio Nitrus but the battery finally called it quits a few weeks ago. use to get 12+ hours out of it, now it won't keep a charge overnight. can't complain, I got 3 years of military service out of it. its been through complete hell and the battery is the only thing to break lol actually I think the firmware is corrupt too so screw it. guess its time to go IPod hunting.

I have an iAudio G3 because it's better than an ipod for me. Great feature set.

40+ hours on an easily replaceable AA battery.

Plays a lot of formats, including WMA and OGG.

          Great sound.

          FM radio.

Serves as an easily usable flash drive (drag and drop).

ipod serves as an easy usable portable HD :) I never use it though.....really the best thing about ipods is that they have an adapter to integrate into everything...cars/aftermarket HU, (needed that for my boat) alot of cool things but other than that, I'd have a windows media based thingy...bigger screens more options...but no integration :( oh well...the ipod will die in a couple years, just give it time.

No, don't want one. There is so much more out there that can be had at a lesser price.

Yes, but you sacrifice poor interface and ugly hardware.

Everything is realitive and personal to what is "better" than.... having said that.

40+ hours on 1 AA battery??? nah... can't be

Formats... AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Music Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3 and 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, AIFF seems to be a good range of formats.. I'm sorry Apple didn't invite MS to the party with WMA, but do people really use that format???

                Great sound.... yep.. check.

Portable drive... check.. got many files on this mini.

What's radio??? oh yeah... the Clear Channel MONOPOLY. Skip it... you can enjoy that puke

I don't give ipods for x-mas or b-days because I'm an Apple Fanboy... I give them because I believe in using the best available product. Just like buying the best car for the money.

Remember.. this is all about good debate and conversation

Re: Do you own an ipod?

I agree that the ipod does have arguably the best interface as well as good battery life (not talking about them dying), and a large amount of disk space.

My issues with it are questionable (at best) build quality, I would prefer flash memory over a disk, I want to be able to shuffle with in folders, and they make it very difficult for other people to contribute to their product which in the end I think will hurt them. Overall I like the ipod better than most other players on the market, but there are definetly things I would want to change about it.

Not just defending the ipod, but what mp3 player has a similar "aftermarket" as the ipod?

let's look at this in a different context just for fun... see if anyone gets it.

Now.. if we look at it like this... than everything can be changed to our liking. But we are not CEO's or have millions of dollars (unless someone is not telling me). I think people keep getting upset that it's Apple and they have a great product and want to say they have a monopoly in the mp3 market (which, they do not). It's like 30 years ago someone saying "honda has great cars".... wait.... they do :)

I think you are hinting at the fact that we can mod our cars to perform how we would like them to. The same can really be said about the ipod to an extent. I could boot it up with a different OS and change everything on it down to the apple icon at start up. Of course this would void my warrenty (same reason I wouldn't mod a new car). At some point you hit a limit of ability and knowledge and just can't change anything else to your liking though.

People do bash on them just because it's Apple or because it's currently a trendy product. It got where it is because it was a better fit in the market and Apple did a better job advertising it. They don't have a monopoly, but they are shooting for one (can't blame them I love capitolism too). Market share in the US is 78% for iPods and 87% of all legal music downloads through iTunes. They are also making rapid gains through out the world with market share for the iPod looming around 50% in the UK, Japan, Austrailia, and Canada.

iAudio G3 - Interface couldn't be easier. Plug it in, it automatically shows up as a drive. Drag and drop music files. Stuff shows up on the G3 screen, easy to navigate. "the operation is simple with a square control pad with central selector and a bright and very readable 4 lines LCD display"

I haven't timed it, but I think 40-50 hours is about right - I don't replace the battery very often.

Yes. I'm not fond of MS, but WMA is one of the better formats for fidelity with small file size. I have somewhat switched to OGG (open source format), which ipod also doesn't support.

Maybe in the wasteland where you live :D. Around here we have a few really good independent FM stations. It's also handy for watching TV at the gym. Sound is broadcast on FM.

I don't think you're a fanboy. Just in need of some more information. I spent a lot of time on research. If you want the best - iAudio. :D

Read the owner reviews of the G3 (61 reviews, 4-1/2 stars, better than ipod):

                                http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...Fencoding=UTF8

The first five (they're listed in chronological order)

"great player among so many choices available"
"G3 is King of Flash based Players"
                                "the positive reviews are correct"
                                "Great mp3 player"
"iAudio G3 does all you need, and then some"

The one rap on it is that it _seems_ fragile to some. I dunno, mine hasn't broken.
