What the crap is with people and their pyrimid schemes?

Today marks the fourth time in about 2 years or so I've had a "meeting" with someone trying to get me to be their pyramid b**ch. I know I know, it's my fault for agreeing to meet them. But three of the times it was a close friend, the fourth was to save a friend from one. I think to myself my friends can't be that dumb, they have college degrees, decent jobs, wife, kids, they wouldn't be stupid enough to be part of a pyramid. BUT THEY ARE! The guy today told me it "wasn't a pyramid or get rich quick scheme" then drew me a f'in pyramid! Each time it happens they're in their first couple months in, a few months later I talk to them and they're done with it, realizing it wasn't what it was made out to be. I'm sure it's possible to make money from these things, but honestly, I just want to slap these people. Anyone else have this problem? or is it just retards from Arkansas?

True story.

A few years back, I had knee surgery. When I woke up from the anesthetic, the nurse convinced me into meeting him about a business oppornuity. In a VERY weak and groggy state, I agreed and set up a time.

I met him and found out about this bullcrap pyramid scheme! :mad:

I should have reported him to the hospital staff - taking advantage of people waking up from surgery.

That's pretty messed up about the hospital thing.

I've had a friend sucker me into a meeting like that with another guy when I was at school. I just walked out mid way through. Then I randomly saw the guy a few months ago in DC and he started talking to me because he saw I was wearing a VT hat. He clearly didn't remember me so he asked for my number, but I just made one up.

Yeah, i've had 3 encounters with this b.s. in the past year.

The one that really pissed me off though was at a job fair. Here I am, graduating college, trying to find a job, during finals week, and at the school sponsored job fair, they had this desk set up. Advertising their new product, this energy drink. Me, handing out resumes left and right trying to find work, gave the bastards one. Well, after an initial one minute call from them, they lied and said id be getting a second phone interview. bare in mind this is during finals week, so i told them i was really busy, but would make time for it. he gave me some b.s. how i had to listen to a recording.. so i did.. why? i dunno.. but after like 5 mins, they had yet to mention the company's name, product, anything really.. accept that they are "the fastest growing corporation" in america.... I hung up and proceeded to call the dude back and ***** him out for wasting my time during finals week and for pretending to be a real company at a job fair of graduatign college kids... The whole time he kept saying "this is not a pyramid scheme" and "i only want people in this who i can trust around my family".. how pathetic is that.. using your family in a scam... needless to say, I informed the campus business office about what kind of company they were and I havent heard back since..
why people join those stupid things, i have no clue...

camaroman: that was the same one! The freggin energy drink people! They never mention anything about the place, but the deal is you spend ALL your money there and you get kickbacks, then you get people to spend their money there and you get kickbacks from them. but for it to work you have to buy EVERYTHING from there. it's retarded

Yup.. sounds like one and the same... its sad really.. they try and mascarade as an actual company when really, they sell substandard items at an increased price, on the mere premise that if you talk a bunch of people into the scam yourself, you make up for the overpriced garbage by earning some of the money that your friends payed to the scam in the first place. I now just stop talking to any "friend" that tries to get me to sign up for one of these rediculous things...
