Anyone in Va with radar detectors? Interesting news.
Re: Anyone in Va with radar detectors? Interesting news.
sometimes I am not paying attention and I drift a little over the limit. A detector is nice so I can check my speed and make sure im not speeding. A lot of the times I hit the brakes and im only doing 1 to 4 over

haha the county next to mine has a lamborgihni or however you spell that nice italian crap, and they use it for speeders on the interstate. now that is some overkill.
A county in VA uses a freakin Lamborghini as a traffic cop car? You sure its not a drug seized car that they painted DARE all over for show? That's crazy.

Virginia also monitors speeders by aircraft too! Is that common in other states besides Va?
There's signs along the Thruway here that says "Speed Enforced by Aircraft" or some kind of bull like that. I've only seen a Helicopter twice so far doing such thing. My friend claimed he saw one too, but we don't often drive on the Thruway, but I'd guess its not often patrolled by aircraft. Big waste of gas if you ask me.

So you are one of those people that causes complete cluster f*cks when everyone panicks and slams the brakes on causing the whole interstate to slow down to 40 mph? Thanks for the brake light warnings though when the roads are clear!
If im speeding, and I see a cop, its already too late, so I kick off the cruise control and let my car coast to a reasonable speed, that way people hauling *** behind me are given no hint of a cop ahead, pass me, and hopefully pull the attention to themselves as they panick brake only 100 feet from the cop. It's already worked before. ;)
99% of the time though, Im one of those people that sets the cruise to 9 over, and never touches the brakes reguardless if a cop is there or not. Everyone usually yanks the wheel hard into the right lane and drop 10 below the speedlimit, so at times of low traffic, I get a nice clear road up the left lane. :)
Re: Anyone in Va with radar detectors? Interesting news.
The whole point is that it is a sense of security, in which virginians dont have. Cops have an unfair advantage as well. Representatives from 49 other states seem to believe that also. The fact that not using a radar helps reduce accidents and help prevent excessive speeding is completely unfounded. If that was the case, why does only 1 state have a ban on them? Does Virginia have more safe drivers than any of the other 49 states? The problem is, no one in the Va legislation has the balls to step up and oust the bill. Simple as that. Virginia has to be the red headed step child compared to the rest of the states.

Minnesota - (2002 law) hanging things from windshields not permitted.
Now that is retarded. That means that my Sunpass toll transponder is illegal and so is the transponder that opens the "resident" gate at the entrance to my community.
I'm so glad I'll never be driving my cars thru Minnesota.
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

Re: Anyone in Va with radar detectors? Interesting news.
im sure this has already been mentioned but i didnt read the whole thread...
Most departments in virginia are getting the spectre 3 radar detector detectors and doing away with the vg2. Theres only one radar detector completely immune to it, and that the bel sti driver.
edit: nvm, just saw it was an old thread... owell, some people still dont know about the spectres...

wonderful site right here... plenty of info on radar detectors in general with LOTS of hard data. No BS manufacturer claims, just hard numbers.
