  • Looking for a Firebird

I was looking for an LS1, but gas prices are starting to make me rethink it. It'll be my daily driver, afterall.

I was wondering about a few things. Do any of you guys without power windows/locks really miss it? That's something I've been wanting, but not sure if I want to pay the extra $2000 that it seems to go for. Also, is it possible to make them power locks and windows relatively easy? I was thinking I could maybe just buy some doors from a junkyard somewhere and swap it all over to mine.

Also, are the '93-'97 Firebirds longer than the '98-'02 ones? It looks like they have a longer front end, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

The extra $2000? For power doors/locks on a used vehicle? I don't think so. I almost bought a stripper Z28 a few months back, but I knew I would have regretted it. Find one with the options for a reasonable price, should be pretty easy to come across.

No, I don't miss them. Only have an electric antenna. Less weight and things to go wrong.

Yes, it is longer in the front, and I think it looks better. :D

I think it looks better than the Firebird from '98 up too, but was wondering if it's harder to get up inclines without scraping... My driveway is a little narrow and fairly steep. That's my concern, lol.

You shouldn't have any problems, but if you do, you could always start going up at an angle.

I dont have power locks/windows on my truck. I hate it, have to take off my belt and like lay down in the seat to reach the passenger side to adjust window or unlock the door for a friend. and when someone pulls up on my right side at a traffic light and signals for me to roll down the window to talk... nightmare

About how fast would a '96 or '97 be with a manual? I know that it depends a lot on skill, but I've heard anywhere from 14.9 to 16.3. My friend always talks about how his Camaro lacks power, but when I ride with him, it seems to have a decent amount of power. His engine needs some work, though.

                    Re: Looking for a Firebird

My Camaro came with manual locks/windows and I had power locks put in, but power windows would be nice. I actually prefer manual on the drivers side because it's more reliable and faster, but like 95fbird kid said it's a pain when you have to roll down the passenger window.

I would have paid the extra $1100 for the package new, but I got one of the last two new 5-speed Camaros left in California in early 2003 and the only difference between them was the color.

Is it just me or is that just a tad bit over priced?

According to Edmunds... about $6000 overpriced, lol.

You can't put a price on a beautiful color like bright green mettalic. You know you want to own my car's twin.

Seriously though if some one offered me even 8k for my car I would walk home from where ever I was.
