  • If you were in my shoes?

A senior fixing to graduate high school, and fixin to start colleage. I have a 02 tacoma with payments of around $300plus for three and half years. I have a 94 formula...with gas going the way it is and everything going. I was given three options to help me out finiacialy for the future.

A.)Keep the truck and pay the expensive payment and keep the firebird to rebuild.

B.)Sell the truck and the car and buy this 2000 Camaro v6 I found that I can get really good payments on.

C.)sell the truck keep the formula and buy the camaro.

I have already finished restoring the interior of the formula to showroom conidtion.

    So what would you do?

sell the truck. buy a geo metro with a hood ornament. keep the formy to work on.

the problem is youre going from making payments to making more payments with selling the truck and buying the camaro. not to mention the insurance is probably going to be higher on the maro.

buy a decent beater car to get you through school for cheap.

well...the maro would only be around 185 bucks per month. My insurence is paid for(thank god). I mean the maro would be cheaper shorter payments plus. The truck has a lift and 33-swampers so the gas milleage isnt good. Plus the formula can just sit there..I would sell it to mad the hell out of the v6...which isnt a bad idea but the 2000 already has 116,000 miles on it...but runs good. I mean my formula runs only a 9.3 on the 1/8th mile...I stock 3.8 runs what?

oh yeah..should a stock camaro be able to spin the tires from a dead stop...it does have bran new performance tires so may that have something to do withg it?

Do you believe you're going to see a significant gas mileage change by buying a 3.8?

sell the truck, keep the formula and look someone better than a camaro. i get good gas mileage but alot dont and you need to look for something cheaper, trust me. the geo metro suggestion isnt just a joke, it would do you good. I know you may not want one cause its not cool but you'll realize one day that thats not what life is about.

Keep the Formula and buy a gas saving beater.

                    D. Sell both and pay CASH for something that is nice and reliable until you finish college. You can always buy another F-body, you can't every go back in time to fix 1. credit 2. redo education.

Look for my thread on Dave Ramsey in the Lounge... that might give you some insight.

Between an 02 Tacoma and a 94 Formula I think he would, plus no more premium for the Formula.

Also to the thread starter: Your a senior in high school what the hell are you doing making payments on cars at this point in your life? Payments= BAD. Especially on a Camaro with 116k on, you don't make payments on something like that. If you have the money to make payments on a 02 Tacoma that you would easily be able to buy a Camaro with low mileage think like 35-50k on it.

                      My advice:
                      1. Get rid of the Tacoma, with payments of $300 you won't be making any progress on restoring your formula.
                      2. Sell the Formula. It most likely isn't worth restoring at this point in your life if your going to college.
                      3. Buy a decent Camaro that you don't have to make payments. Not 116k crap that you make payments on.
